Sri Sangom,
I accept your views in the last post , partly.
I have seen many web sites on Hinduism ,brahmins, Indian traditions etc ,all of them initiated by energetic youth who are well in the fields of IT, science. In fact, most of the so-called brahmin/hindu sites are put together or carried forward by participating youth only.
It is only when they enter and contribute, a forum can cater to their needs. Just by looking at the fringe, the real character may not manifest.
They can take the forum/discussion to new directions.
My surfing into various sites has shown me that the youth take part in similar sites and forums and defend tradition and habits, and characteristics of the community, vehemently and forcefully. They have more bite, though they may not have more info of scriptures and literature.
(I understand from the language and other indications that they are youth).
A web forum cannot make an appearance by itself unless advertised or propagated by word of mouth. Most reach the sites as a result of the search for certain tags, words, etc.Hence the tags/search words should be those the youth generally search for normal needs.
It is true that even our forum lacks some pep for the youth. There was a suggestion on employment opportunity. It did not find takers and did not go further.
From my till date experience from various e cyber forums and also in the ground reality,I find that the youth are not so negative as they are portrayed, but enthusiastic and responsive in many of the traditional and heritage scenes.
As they have to distribute their time in many activities, and major chunk of that in career advancement and modern studies, they are able to give only superficial attention to sites like this. If in the first occasion itself they are not impressed, they do not return.
Kerala Brahmana Sabha Eranakulam has its blog Kerala Brahmana Sabha - Ernakulam District
Mr Mohandas, who is behind this is an energetic, devoted youth. I think ,now this blog has a very good readership and reach.
The enthusiasm is clearly manifest in NRI youths also. So if we all can do something and create topics suited for youth and useful to them , it will attract them. It need not be just negation of tradition and past. Youth also do not outrghtly reject tradition. Only when it becomes a real hindrance even after their trying to make a proper blend, then only they go for the more convenient alternative.
A collective effort is needed. Let us hope for the best.
Greetings.
