6. Vedha Porutham

Each porutham holds a unique significance and importance in itself. The vedha porutham also has its own significance. The word 'vedha' means affliction which comes about if the birth stars of the girl and the boy are not in agreement with each other. In simple terms it could be defined as “in opposition or in a fighting position with one another”. Therefore, there should be koota agreement between the stars of the girl and the boy which can help keep off pitfalls, shortcomings or evils in the marriage thus resulting in a happy and a prosperous married life ever after. If the birth stars of the two are not in agreement or in 'vedha' to each other, the marriage proposal is called off because if they both get married to each other with the 'vedha' in their stars, this is very likely to bring about the likelihood of frequency of various illnesses, mental illnesses and other similar problems during their married lives.
