this is not just in usa. more so in india too.

for some of the weddings i have been, especially during evening reception, a heist would probably net hundreds of crores.. :)

recently we were in chennai for weddings. mrs k insisted on bringing her diamonds and so much jewellery. no warning of mine was heeded. it was just to keep up appearances with the srinivasans and srirams!! what to do?

how can i be like a pichchaikaari? she asks. what to do?

i tell her, she looks like a queen, inspite of or no matter what you wear or dont wear, i say. but she ignores me. what to do?

What is happening in India is always happening, not new,

This is what is happening in US recently

I just wanted to cation Indians who are in US , be aware of this

Please also see the video in the link

only Indians Families are targeted!!

Recently many cases have happened in overland park KS

Indian Houses are targeted even in Fremont city and neighboring cities in California State.
My son purchased a new house in Newark,Ca 94560 in 2004 and moved there in June 2004.
Some people managed to enter the house when both had left for office in 2005 and took away all the
gold jewellery including the Tirumangalyam ,Diamond Ear Rings,Diamond nose ring,Gold chain of my deceased wife.
The loss was to the tune of Rs.20lakhs.
In December 2010,burglary took place when the entire family had gone to witness 'lighting's during Christmas
near our house. This family from south india is in USA for the past 50 years.
In another instance,a family returning from India was being followed from Airport to their residence and made forceful entry
into the house and decamped with all valuables.
Gold snatching is very common in Fremont where lot of South Indians are staying. This city is having one tamil Brahmin lady
(Anu Natarajan) as DY Mayor.
These Incidents are not highlighted for obvious reasons.

Dear Kunjuppu Sir:

After reading your laments I was just wondering: we always hear of 'complaints' from the female side. So, why not list ‘some complaints‘ from the male side.

  • Men are NOT mind readers.
  • Shopping is NOT a sport. And no, we are never going tothink of it that way.
  • Crying is blackmail.

  • Ask for what you want. Let us be clear on this one:
    Subtle hints do not work!
    Strong hints do not work!
    Obvious hints do not work!
    Just say it!

  • Yes and No are perfectly acceptable answers to almost every question.
  • Come to us with a problem only if you want help solving it. That's what we do. Sympathy is what you will get from your parents.
  • Anything we said 6 months ago is inadmissible in an argument. In fact, all comments become null and void after 7 Days.
  • If you want to dress up like royalty, don't expect us to act like bodyguards.
  • If you think you're fat, you probably are. Don't ask us.
  • If something we said can be interpreted two ways and one of them makes you sad or angry, then we meant the other one.
  • You can either ask us to do something, Or tell us how you want it done. Not both. If you already know best how to do it, just do it yourself.
  • Whenever possible, say whatever you have to say during TV commercial breaks.
  • Christopher Columbus did NOT need directions and neither do we.
  • When discussing saree colors, we know of only a few colors. Peach, we know only as a fruit, not a color. Mango is also a fruit. Peacock is a bird, and so is peacock-neck a color? We have no idea what mauve is.

  • If we ask what is wrong and you say 'nothing,' we will act like nothing's wrong. We know you are lying, but it is just not worth the hassle, besides we know you will bring it up again later.
  • If you ask a question you don't want an answer to, expect an answer you don't want to hear !
  • When we have to go somewhere, absolutely anything you wear is fine...Really.

  • Don't ask us what we're thinking about unless you are prepared to discuss such topics as cricket, quantum physics, or comedy in Kalidasa's Vikramorvasiyam.
  • You have enough sarees.
  • You have too many sandals/chappals/high-heel shoes.

For the wife: Thank you for reading this. Yes, I know, I have to sleep on the couch tonight; But did you know men really don't mind that? It's like camping.

Disclaimer: The above was found somewhere in the internet space, but duly modified for Indian context.

Last year my son's neighbor's family visited their native place in India. Just a week prior to travel, they bought a safety locker and

kept all the jewelry and cash in that. Someone broke in through the rear door and looted everything. Police are not able to trace the

culprits who entered without making any noise. They suspect the some employee of the shop which sold the safety locker to them!

Sad that Indians are being targeted for Gold..But let use our wisdom and not store jewellery at home...Do we have Bank lockers or private lockers in U.S as in India?

When all the news media proclaim that India is world's largest consumer of gold, crooks get ideas.

Yes, the US banks charge about $100 in annual fees for a 10"by10" locker.

Raji Madam

These type of house breaking is very common in India as they target anyone; but this is a very serious matter in US as the CULPRITS TARGET ONLY INDIANS

Local Police have taken appropriate steps and Indians are vigilant through their local Clubs.

Please pass this to your near and dear who are in US.

It is a known fact P J Sir. The culprits know that Indian houses will have gold and diamonds. A few years back, our friend's daughter's

house was robbed in NJ and she lost her entire jewelry! It seems the metal detectors are used to find out where gold is kept.

Sometimes I feel why at all we buy gold ornaments, when so many fakes are available in very very low price. Either we keep them in

bank lockers or walk with fear on the roads, covering the jewels with the saree pallu!

So many lovely designs in cheaper rate:

Not completely true. They target both Indians and Chinese. The Indians for gold and the Chinese for cash. Specially for the little red envelopes after Chinese new year.
