Domestic violence is an endemic problem seen in every country, culture, and class. Fanpage.it conducted a social experiment in Italy, where they asked young boys to slap a girl. The idea was to bring out children's reactions on the subject of violence against women.

So we decided to put some of the young Indian boys under a scanner and observe how would they react in a similar situation.

Although, no one should hit nobody, with over 65% Indian men thinking that women deserve to be beaten, is it not the need of the hour to teach our boys to respect girls?

The kids seem to be from high income group!

Can someone check with slum dwellers, where women are beaten everyday?? :whip:

THIS IS ABOUT CHILDREN< NOT ABOUT GROWN UPS

Even in Slums Children do not beat girls!!

It is only grown ups do it in every society

Dear P J Sir,

Please keep your eyes wide open! We have a huge slum across the road and I find boys hitting girls often!

Among the slum-dwellers and the poorest sections, children become worldly-wise even before they attain physical maturity and the boys start treating the girls as inferior to them. This was easily seen from the abusive words which the boys used to shout at girls. This is from what I had seen in Mumbai more than 20 years ago.

We rarely hear the stories of women being molested by educated boys / men.

The worst example is Nirbhaya's case! :mad2:

Being educated but being silent spectator to crime in society is worst of all...One should raise his/her voice against crime by any means!

It is easy to advice, advice is cheap. To get involved in someone else's problem can be harmful. I have been with a group that supports women in-need. It is very dangerous physically to the intercede. Fortunately we have police support here is usa for our group. In india I do not know how far one should get involved on their own. I worked on week with a group that rescues young children from Bombay RLY station, but even that group would not rescue girls as they were scared of the gangs and police.

I feel this video is gender biased!

They should have had other experiments too.

Place boys with boys too and ask boys to hit the boys.

Then place girls with boys and asked girls to hit boys.

Place girls with girls and watch hell break loose!LOL

Actually when anyone is beaten..male or female..one needs to hear both sides of the stories..only then one can come to a conclusion why it lead to violence.

Cos some people are experts at making others mad and some people have a low tolerance and start hitting.

I had seen a case of domestic violence once when I was in the government service where a female got slapped by her husband.
Her husband was not in the country for sometime he was in the army abroad and meanwhile the wife started having an affair with the husband's friend.

So somehow the husband found out and he asked her is its true..the wife said it was not a full fledged affair but they only kissed!
Then the husband said he is willing to forgive her but he slapped her when the she said that his friend is a better kisser!

I asked her why did she say that? She said she wanted to make her husband jealous!

I told her to go home..take rest..try to get back to husband and be happy and not press charges against him.

Dear Ganesh,

Very true! But do you know the what happens in such cases? My second cousin's husband tried to act like a hero, when some

masked thugs tried to loot the jewels from women in the next cubicle in the train in which he was travelling. He was stabbed

several times and had a horrible death on spot! This happened in early 70s. The fights are possible ONLY in the movies.

Actually these videos are well rehearsed, I think. Sometime ago my grandson was taken for one such (similar) advertisement video and the children were all taught what to do and tell, beforehand.

I agree with you. These so called "interviews" are staged events. The truth is too graphic and inconvenient.

I guess you are 100% right Sangom Ji...cos all the reactions looked so 'acted' out.

Especially one boy who says that "his mother told him not to hit girls"

Frankly speaking at that age all boys and girls hate each other!LOL

We should have a senior citizen version..that is place an nagging old lady next to an equally old man and ask him to slap her!

Then the old man cant hear what he is told and the old lady hits him on the head with her fist and tells him "when will you ever hear what others tell you"

Then he finally hears what he is told and he slaps the old lady..and she cries 'how could you slap me?"

Then he says "it was you who told me to hear what others say"

I can visualize in my head the best suited person to play the role of the old man is PJ sir!LOL

That is a good question..

But the problem is all the ladies in Forum are still very young!LOL

I am also too young!!!!
