Sorry that you missed the humor part. People report some muslim women convered into Hinduism etc. So, how about a white guy wants learn about Shiva's dance. You are right about lerarning a language but without it one can not gain the knowledge and wisdom it conveys. Mere learning and teaching without using it as tool is useless. But your "self defence" is fine too. Every one is orn with the image of GOD but get lost into mindless religion based on dogma. Even dogma is created with the misuse of a language.
So, the idea is not to empphasize who learns what language but reported as a fun. You are blessed that you took time to learn Sanskrit. Bless your heart.
