Today's Times of India carries an important move by Modi Government in respect of submission of
annual Life Certificate by pensioners . "The government on Monday launched an Aadhaar-based digital life certificate for pensioners, a move that could eventually benefit over one crore pensioners. The proposed digital certification will do away with the requirement of a pensioner to submit a physical life certificate in November each year, in order to ensure the continuity of pension being credited into his or her account. While the system is in its early stage, it is bound to ease life for pensioners once implemented.

It should be a great help if it happens.

similarly I was pleasantly surprised to find a raise in pension amount due to stipulations of minimal pension.

I collected a 50 percent raise.

I am forced to take my pension amount seriously as income.

I go only once per year to check my pension amount and give a life certificate.

Otherwise the paltry amount is ideal to be given to some charity.

In 1995 some bright spark in govt felt that 1 1/3% of Pf with equal amount should be put into pension account for CPF account holders.

after 20 years someone has felt that it should be minimum 1000 rs or so .and max1500.rs

small mercy.

so it gets implemented .

I wonder what are we trying to do to senior citizen . Does this make sense to anyone?

I think it is a joke played on me

Dear Sri Krish,

As an octogenarian my self, I could understand your feelings.

All are not lucky to get pension in our Country. I belong to a generation who have to live on our savings (if any) during our old age,if we do not serve Government service.

As for myself, having served in private institutions for 45 years in India and abroad, all I could achieve is to build a house and give good education to my son. My wife and I continue to live with my son and daughter-in-law and family, who take care of all our needs in the last pace of our life. The small interest income that I get out of my Cash savings serve as my pocket money, to spend for my grand daughters when my wife and I take them out.
That is the life for us.

I hope and wish the present generation will have a better retired life.

Regards,
Brahmanyan,

Dear sri Brahmanyan
This is the status of most of us who have worked for a lifetime in govt . After we get our children educated ,married off with a lucky few who buy flats we are left only

with meagre savings thru deposits and interest thereof and pension.

we are forced to get integrated with our children and feel lucky if they if we can join hands with them in the same town.

well all of us are in the same boat with some minor variations

where did we go wrong ?bad planning? socialism? poor economic management? perhaps longer life span to be lived after retirement.lol

Sir,

It is really a good move.

Yesterday I had been to a Bank to submit my Life Certificate. I can see an octogenarian with great difficulty approaching the bank with two attendants helping him. He was unable to walk independently and the unforutnate thing is he has to necessarily climb not less than 18 -20 steps to meet the bank staff concerned located at the first floor. This building does not have lift facility.

Hope this new system once implemented, as reported in the news item, is bound to ease the life of such pensioners who are physically disable to visit the bank.

I wonder if it would have helped if one could just meet the manager of this bank and tell him to arrange to have one of his officers sent downstairs to meet this old gentleman downstairs and get his signature on the life-certificate form? Pipe-dream?

This brings me to another point: if Praveen could introduce a twitter icon in each post, VBji's post could be tweeted to the relevant bank ( for example, State Bank of India has the twitter handle @TheOfficialSBI , etc ), as well as to the PM at @narendramodi @PMO_INDIA etc. Of course, the tweeting can still be done, but it takes a very circuitous route.
