Did anyone watch this movie based on the Book - Lone survivor? Its an interesting read and a good movie. Its about a stealth SEAL team encountering 3 shepherds. They let them off, but get ambushed by Taliban and one of the survivors telling the tale. He was rescued by a Pathan for the sake of their tradition.

Its disturbing to watch also, all young men's(both Taliban and Seals) heads being blown away. In the end, you think what all these worth for.

Just means that people (like other animals) have a mean and violent nasty streak. Unfortunately this takes me away from believing in a benign humanity.

I think I read that book. I have not watched the movie. The book was a good read. Still, the Afghan culture was discussed as the point of view of the westerners.

I watched a movie about a decade ago based on Afghan culture. While I enjoyed part of the movie, I almost puked with one other part of the movie. But that was the aim of the movie, to show the contrast in that culture.

With due credit,

Procreation and existence can go with benign feeling depending upon the environment. Often times ruthlessness alone can't help. In an African Savannah most of the times the timid looking wildebeest have much better surviving chances than that of the lions.

Most survivors are quiet and easy going. Most of these so called "fittest" who make lot of splashes deep down may not be very fit at all.

Thanks for your encouragement. ( I know only Chennai Tamil. Don't know if you follow that or not. If you do, I can write in Tamil).
