Maharashtra leading change!

Maharashtra seem to be leading a big change. Announced recently ban on cow slaughter - good to know but we (Hindus/Brahmins) do not eat cows, so it is an okay news! Now they have scrapped 5% reservation for Muslims.. way to go.. scrap the entire reservation on education and government jobs in a full scale to bring back merit! What more in their agenda - curious to know...

Will it hit other parts of India?

No one has the guts to nullify reservations at the cost of votes! Forget it!..BJP can at best nullify religion based reservations!!

i was recently in goa and what happens in goa, is a shadow of what happens in maharashtra as these are so closely interlinked.

what struck me first was the number of temples being built. these are not the street corner temples of chennai, but elaborate ones, all cement and brick and bright yellow colour. whereas unlike kerala, i found the churches, including the famous bom jesus cathedral, sort of abandoned. true i went in offtime, but even then, kerala churches are peopled.

like maharashtra, outside money from the north is flooding to goa. the goanese originals are bought out, either by money or force, and land mafia has bribed the panchayats, according to my tour guides. they claim that often the panchayati chairman earns in crores per year, several times that of a minister.

truly a rich man's pseudo western playground. our goa. though i should say, i enjoyed the beach and my resort. :) but not exactly a favourable place for today's goanese.
