Nama Sankirtanam in the Kali Yuga

It is said in the puranas, that every following Yuga has diminished powers/benefits than the previous one. Kali Yuga being the last yuga is the one where Dharma (cow) stands on one leg giving only one-fraction of the punya each act of Dharma is supposed to give. At the same time, a sin committed one-fraction gets multiplied by four times giving untold suffering. That's why Kali yuga seems to have more sadness than happiness in general.

However, the most important thing that provides relief is the fact that 'Bhagavan's naama has all the powers of a mantra and brings the god to us directly'. Bhagavatha-purana also glorifies the name of Krishna as the deliverer in this yuga.

This post invites views from all -
* on the benefits they have realized by doing nama-japa or sankirtana
* how to organize nama-parayana events
* how to involve nama-japa in our daily life etc..

We quite often talk of Nama Sangeerthanam. Every Thursday, a group of people
do Nama Sangeerthanam in Sai Satsangh, which is a routine practice. People
automatically, without even seeing the watch, they assemble at the Hall to do
Namasangeerthanam. Rather it has become a routine and has become part of our
duty. It can be defined as simple method of worship. If one continuously attend
the classes, one forgets himself and remains in blissful union with God. A question
may arise in every body's mind, how to retain the divine power through out the life.
If a person is involved in Nama Sangeerthanam, one can see Vittal Maharaj's
programme. The devotee becomes overwhelmed and transcended to a state of bliss,
beyond body, mind and ego and all the devotees are immersed in the thought of God
Truly speaking, the programme of Nama Sangeerthanam forms the basis for a person
to proceed with and in the process, a desire and longing will be developed to
know the God. In fact one surrenders totally during the Namasangeerthanam
forgetting other activities and a sort of Bhakthi is developed in him/her. One expects
the God's grace through Guru who gives the real strength and paves the way for the
total trust and faith/belief in the existence of God. In fact, Guru helps one to know
various roles such as viz. path finder towards God, mentor, guide and philosopher.
One can notice that the Guru, even if he is highly enlightened, he comes down to the
level of a devotee to educate a person. Sometimes the Guru sits with the devotee
imparts the spiritual knowledge and makes a person to acquire an elevation and realization
about the true effects of God. It is the Guru who explains the devotee to get away
from false notions and understand the true vision by which one is able to feel and
understand what is real.
