Dear Renu,
What about the pure Tamil names:
'SuppammA', 'MuniammA', 'VeLLayammA', 'VeNNila', 'RAsAthi', 'KaruppAyi', 'Muthazhagi', 'Ponni', 'ILavarasi' and so on?
Then i guess same rules apply too.

RRji,
What happened to the thread "Am I eligible to.............". Just curious. It appears I have missed some developments. If u may, please send me the info through pm if you want to avoid putting it down here. Thanx.
Good analysis Sir!Are you sure these are purely tamil names..?
Is "suppa" not a corruption of "subba" which itself is a corruption of "subra"
"RasAthi" not a corruption of rAjA + Athi
"ILavarasi" being feminine equivalent of "ILaavarasan" which itself has rAsan, a corrupted form of rAjA?
Doesnt "veNNila" mean bright (or white) moon formed on the foreground of "neela" (blue) sky?

Good analysis Sir!
But these are supposed to be pure Tamil names, whatever be the roots.
BTW, my name was written as இராசேசுவரி ( i rA sE su va ri) by my Tamil teacher in school!! :becky:
Dear Renu,
The problem is because there is only one letter for both 'ka' and 'ga' in Tamil.
Another name pronounced wrong is 'Padma'. Many say 'Bathma'!
