Dear Vgane Ji..

Feminine names end with A and I cos in Sanskrit feminine gender words do end with आ and ई

Dear Renu,

What about the pure Tamil names:

'SuppammA', 'MuniammA', 'VeLLayammA', 'VeNNila', 'RAsAthi', 'KaruppAyi', 'Muthazhagi', 'Ponni', 'ILavarasi' and so on? :)

RRji,

What happened to the thread "Am I eligible to.............". Just curious. It appears I have missed some developments. If u may, please send me the info through pm if you want to avoid putting it down here. Thanx.

Are you sure these are purely tamil names..?

Is "suppa" not a corruption of "subba" which itself is a corruption of "subra"
"RasAthi" not a corruption of rAjA + Athi
"ILavarasi" being feminine equivalent of "ILaavarasan" which itself has rAsan, a corrupted form of rAjA?
Doesnt "veNNila" mean bright (or white) moon formed on the foreground of "neela" (blue) sky?

Good analysis Sir! :)

But these are supposed to be pure Tamil names, whatever be the roots.

BTW, my name was written as
இராசேசுவரி ( i rA sE su va ri) by my Tamil teacher in school!! :becky:

Dear Vaagmi Sir,

:noidea: Today I was expecting some posts in my inbox, but could not find any!

Then realized that the thread has suddenly vanished!

I also find that a rude post in another thread (against me, of course) is deleted!! :D

Dear RR ji...i have to attend a full day symposium day after tomorrow and my name was wrongly written by a young Tamil girl as Renuga for the registration info.

I was OMG..wrong name and there goes my certificate for points system...wrong name means cert would be totally invalid.

Despite emailing the nice Tamil girl my name is Renuka ..she still did not get it and wrote my name as Renuga.

Finally I had to call another person to get them to register me under my correct name.

Dear Renu,

The problem is because there is only one letter for both 'ka' and 'ga' in Tamil.

Another name pronounced wrong is 'Padma'. Many say 'Bathma'! ;)

Not in Grantham Lipi.
