Delhi’s arrested IAS official has 3 kg gold and 8 properties
Sanjay Singh also has five bank lockers and 300 foreign-branded liquor bottles

Senior bureaucrat in the Delhi government Sanjay Pratap Singh, who has been arrested and suspended for corruption, owns eight properties and 3.2 kg gold. The Central Bureau of Investigation has unearthed five bank lockers from Singh. One of the lockers was opened on Wednesday and 31 gold biscuits (weighing 3.2 kg), worth Rs 80 lakh, and silver worth lakhs was recovered. Four lockers are yet to be opened.
The agency has found that Singh has eight expensive properties - three in Noida, two in Greater Noida, two in Gurgaon and one in Safdarjung Enclave and he was getting rental income running into several lakhs.
These properties are in societies like Pearl Gateway (Noida), two houses in Amrapali (sector 50, Noida), two properties in Unitech Habitat and Unitech Heights in Greater Noida, houses in Oasis Cooperative and Sail Society (both in Sector 56, Gurgaon), besides a house in Safdarjung Enclave.
CBI teams have also recovered 300 foreign-branded liquor bottles like Glenfiddich, Johnny Walker etc from his house, premium watches like Rolex, Omega, expensive electronic items apart from fixed deposits worth crores of rupees. He is also an executive committee member of the elite Gymkhana Club in New Delhi.
Giving details of his corrupt practices, CBI officials said that when he was posted as an observer for Himachal Pradesh assembly elections in 2012 for three districts, he used an Election Commission vehicle for leisure trips to Manali, Kullu, Kangra etc and billed Rs 1.5 lakh to the exchequer.
Singh is a 1984 batch IAS officer and was the principal secretary of the department of welfare of scheduled caste, scheduled tribes and minorities in the Delhi government. Singh was arrested by CBI on Tuesday evening while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 2.2 lakh from a person who runs a security company and provides guards, peons etc to Delhi government.
AAP government has suspended Singh after his arrest. Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia said that the government will not spare anyone found to be involved in corruption. "The government has suspended Sanjay Pratap Singh, an IAS officer of 1984 batch of AGMUT cadre, and surrendered his service to MHA, saying that we don't require Singh's services anymore," he said.
