What I saw What I did not and Could not

I was there for a week I could not see Mukthinath and Pokara as planned since Nepal was shut down for 3 days for Poltical reasons and not because of bad weather or ill health

I spent 7 days in Nepal and saw places in around Kathmandu only .There are places of attraction in Kathmandu for you to spend 7 days

I did not see Muslims! and mosques! I was told Muslims are not visible there. But plenty of Buddhists and their stupas and places of worship. Budha was born in Nepal says hoardings proudly to attract them! Seetha was born here but I could not go to those places like Lumbini and Janakpur due to Bandh ! The Everest is a big attraction! Maruthi 800 is senn every where but not mosquitoes . Sparrows are spared and could see lots of them in the place I was staying in! Rosy lips every where I did not see any woman without lipstick They probably use it instead of Chapsticks to prevent cracks on the lips Sharad Yadav may not be interested in them since they are fair!

About Pasupathinath temple I will post it in the thread Naryana and Navagraha

JJ ji,
could you make it to Manakamana devi temple. A rope car trip across the mountain is joy to ride.

It was festive mood in Nepal getting ready for Baishak - their New Year. On Tamil New Year Day i was in Baidyanath Temple performing Rudarabishekam! and on Pohela Boishak - Bengali new year I was in Dakshineswar and Belur mutt in Belur kolkkata!

Though Himalayas are associated with Shiva few temples of Naryana also exists like theis one. But you donot see those vaishnava symbols like

Naryanan in Kidantha Kolam There is no sea or Parkadal in Nepala for Naryan and hence an artficial Kuttai is made for him Can call it kuttail kidantha Narayanan!
The Seshan does not form a hood over Narayana here It is a nice place and on my day of vist I saw one Upanayanam performed in this temple and women were giving madi arisi to the incumbent brahmachari like here

Dear Mrs. Janaki Jambunathan,

It is nice of you to have uploaded recent photographs of Bhakthapur Durbar square before the earth quake. This UNESCO heritage site is gone for ever, so also many ancient sites in other parts of Nepal. The famous Dharahara Tower in Kathmandu has been destroyed again. Here is a Picture of Durbar Square after earthquake:
Durbar Plaza after Earthquake..webp
Nature has been very cruel to this only Hindu Nation. The fact is this Country is sitting pretty on the major earth quake fault, known as the Main Frontal Thrust (MFT) fault where the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates crash into each other. which runs for more than 1,000km from west to east within Nepal.

In a sadly prescient turn of events, the CEA, the research agency in France, uncovered the historical pattern of earthquakes during fieldwork in Nepal last month, and anticipated a major earthquake in exactly the location where Saturday's big tremor has taken place.

Ancient texts mention a number of major earthquakes, but locating them on the ground is notoriously difficult.

It is indeed a great thing our Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the first person to offer all assistance to the people of Nepal at this hour of suffering.
Regards,
Brahmanyan,
Bangalore.

Dear JJ Ji,

You were very lucky that you were not in Nepal at the time it got hit by the quake.

Sad to note so many loss of lives and the destruction of religious sites.

I was miles away from Nepal when hit by quake!. It is a nightmare to see Nepal after the Quake Let me forget the horror of these stories and get into the City of Joy - Nepal Lives on road out of fear after Shakes But Calcutta lives on road by default These pictures are taken in Camac street where I was staying in the elite Parkstreet area! I feel sorry for the people of Nepal . I have neither sympathy nor anger for the people of calctta! ! I admire them! They are happy & cheerful in adverse situation . They are not antisocials In fact without these people calcutta may be dead Things are affordable Cheaper than any place on earth. I bought a bottle water for Rs. 36 - room service! atrocious! But finished my breakfast on road side for Rs.12. 4 poories Chai for Rs.4 Taxi Minimum Rs.25 and No refusal! When my Taxi driver was offered breakfast he preffered rossagulla and not poories Men can have Haircut and Shave for Rs50 on road - Because of these people things are affordable with no overheads . Rickshaws and Trams still exist !
