[h=1]No more of those awful online adverts: Google is demoting these sites[/h] September 6, 2015 Kishore Ganesh Leave a comment Edit
We have all been there. You are scrolling through your feed, and find an interesting article. You tap on it, and see the content you want for a split second before a full-screen advertisement pops up, obscuring the content you actually want to see. Closing them is quite a chore and you would most probably hit the advertisement itself, redirecting you somewhere else. Worse, some advertisements actually redirect you to the App Store / Play Store against your will.
What do you do? You can always close the advertisement and get back to the content. But most users get frustrated and close the webpage.
it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that such advertisements are the bane of the mobile web. And Google has finally come around to understanding that these ads are despised and almost never clicked on, which is why it is demoting sites using such ads. Since sites get most of their traffic from Google, we would probably see these ads reduce in popularity very soon.
Google makes money mostly from advertisers, and if click-through rate is low, it loses money. Which is why this change makes sense from a business point of view and definitely makes sense from a consumer point of view.
What do you think? Care for less advertisements?
