As I was walking on the sands of Marina Beach, I stumbled on a woman’s hand bag; I picked it up and looked around to see if anyone is searching for a hand bag, but I could only see a few fishermen moving their nets at a distance.

To help the loser I thought I should get some clue to give her back, and looked inside to find some identification so I could call the owner

Normally a woman’s handbag contains some make up sets, etc etc, but to my surprise it contained a car key, a 10 rupee note and a photo of a girl standing before a car !! The Girl looked so beautiful; I wanted to see her personally and handover her hand bag! but without her address, how can I see her?

Suddenly an idea struck my mind, the car key might reveal the address if I can take it
The car Dealer; the key is for Maruthi Alto A-Star.

Next day I went to a Maruthi Car Dealer who is very well known to me and asked if there is any possibility of finding the owner’s address from the car key; and casually I explained him how I got the car key; also showed him the Girl’s Photo!!

The moment he saw the Photo of the Girl, he recognized her and told me she is the one who bought the car only last week!! From the Invoice book, he could trace out her address and gave it to me.

I thanked him, and rode on my new Hunk to the address imagining so many things!! Like Bharathi Raja film, many white color dressed girls danced in my mind!!

I stood before a newly constructed Posh Villa; my breath was heavy as I am going to meet a very beautiful girl now;

As I entered compound the with her hand bag hanging, I pressed the Door bell, and there stood ……

Dear PJ sir,

Let me start off ..I promise to keep it short..within 500 words.

Ok here goes:

As I entered compound the with her hand bag hanging, I pressed the Door bell and there stood ……

There stood an mid 50's lady with overdone make up!

Who could this be?? thoughts raced in my mind!

"Who are you? What do you want?" she rudely questioned me.

"Maam..Maam" I stammered.

What is this "Maam Maam Maam?" she asked me again.

"I am looking for Kavitha..I got her name from the car dealer..she had dropped her handbag at Marina Beach"..I managed to complete my sentence despite my mind still racing wondering where Kavitha could be.

The "aunty" still gave me the stares..she titled her head and squinted her eyes and spoke' "Oh my step daughter?? You do this! That girl keeps losing her things each time...you come back later and give it to her yourself..I don't want to deal with that girl"

I was confused at the same time relieved..at least she did not take the bag and ask me to get lost..so I had a chance to see Kavitha again but how??

"Maam..but how and where can I meet her"

"I will give you her mobile number and you deal with her yourself Ok! Do you get it?"

"Ok Ok Maam..sorry maam"

That aunty gave me Kavitha's number and I was sort of happy too but at the same time wondering why her step mum had no concerns of giving Kavitha's number to a total stranger..didn't she care for her.

The gardener was looking at me on my way out and he smiled at me..he told me his name was Gopi.
His skin was wrinkled but his smile made his eyes look bright.

"Thambi..this is nothing..poor Kavitha amma..her step mother treats her badly"

I was starting to feel something for Kavitha..the poor little rich girl who had no one to love her.

I called her the next day..a sweet young voice answered "Hello"

I was nervous but managed to speak "Hello I am Dheeran..I I found your handbag in Marina beach"

"Oh yes..Gopi uncle my gardener told me..he heard you speaking to the woman my father married"

She told me she worked nearby Garuda Mall and told me to meet her at Mc Donalds today.

I told her I did not bring the bag today but she said she would like to meet me anyway.

My heart skipped many beats...could not wait to go to Mc D.

I saw her sitting waiting for me..just as she told...wearing a black colored top with grey pants..such a beauty..I was almost going to faint.

"Hi Dheeran..nice to meet you..I wanted to meet you to apologize to you for my step mum's behavior..please do not mind her behavior..that woman is nuts..I can't stand her either"

"It's Ok Kavitha" I replied.

We then had some fries and some ice cream and I told her I would drop by her house in the evening to give her the handbag.

I was feeling totally out of this world today..Kavitha was a really nice girl..spoke so sweetly.

I could not wait to go to her house..I was really starting to like her.

I put on some romantic songs and was driving to her house..I was totally lost thinking of her.

All a sudden a dog ran across the road..I applied emergency brakes swerved to avoid the dog.

"Damn dog..had to spoil my dream!" I laughed to myself.

"Anyway Thank God..the dog did not get hit either".

I was actually near by her house..I noticed a crowd nearby her house..wonder what was going on but I was not too bothered..I just needed to see Kavitha.

I walked to her door....the door was open.

"Kavitha...Kavitha.." I called her but no answer.

Then I saw her in the garden with Gopi and they were discussing something.

I went up to them and greeted them both..they did not seem to even acknowledge me.

"Kavitha..I am here to give your bag"

She did not even look at me!

What was wrong?

"Kavitha..what is wrong with you? You spoke to me nicely today afternoon and now you ignore me..what is wrong with you"

I then turned to Gopi and asked him why is Kavitha behaving like this.

Gopi did not even bother to reply.

He was going towards the gate.

I was getting angry..I had had enough..I am just going to give her her bag and go back home.

But I did not have the bag in my hands.

I must have left it in the car..I went towards my car parked by the road to get the handbag.

I saw Gopi and Kavitha near my car..."what is wrong with these two?"

"Kavitha..what are you doing near my car..let me get the bag and give it to you..but you do not have to be so rude as to invite me to your house and then ignore me..I can't understand you..anyway let me take the bag from my car"

There was a crowd around my car..why were so many people here?

I wanted to open my car door but I could not...I could not even hold the door.

What was going on?

Then I saw the handbag lying on the road.

I saw Kavitha pick it up and then tell a police officer.."Yes Sir..this bag is mine..he is Dheeran....he was supposed to give me my bag which I lost at Marina Beach..I did not expect this to happen..I just spoke to him today afternoon at Mc Donalds and now..."

What is wrong with this girl..why is she talking to a police officer.

I then saw her crying.

I looked on the road...I saw myself lying on the road.....my car totally damaged..I was DEAD!

Sir,

Here is my entry:

As I entered compound the with her hand bag hanging, I pressed the Door bell, and there stood ……

an aged man with a rudhraksham on his neck and vibhoothi on his forehead with a tilak. It seems he has just finished his daily pooja. He looked at me with a question mark and I introduced myself and narrated my investigation ability and showed the hand bag. He then invited me inside the Hall which was filled with fragrance of incense. Very nice of you Mr. Ganesh for having taken all the trouble to retrun the hand bag. His hospitality was very nice. He immediately spoke to his daughter Mythili over mobile about returning of handbag and she conveyed her thanks to me. Her Dad collected my number and I was back home, but with a disappointment of not able to see my dream girl.

Luck striked me again. couple of days later, when I had been to Passport Office, to enquire about the status of my application, I cannot believe my own eyes, bcos I was just standing before my dream girl! I asked her, by any chance her name is Mythili. She too was surprised and enquired as to how do I know her name. Again I narrated the entire incident. She immediately got excused from her colleague and both of us went to nearest coffee shop.

While taking coffee, she told me that she was in trouble on the other day with her boss firing at her. I asked her what for? She replied that it was that in her system important and confidential data were stored and unfortunately her system got hanged with virus and she was unable to furnish data immediately. She requested her boss to give her a couple of hours time to retrieve the data. Only at that time, she seems to have received that call from her Dad, informing my returning of her lost handbag.

I asked her, what is the lost handbag is to do with furnishing of office data, and for that she replied that the memory card which contains the data was kept inside her handbag. When I told that her handbag had only few things, she replied that such valuable things are kept in the secret zipper compartment.

With this development, I got my Passport issued and Left for Parrys on an official assignment. At Parrys, unfortunately I lost my purse with all Euros, Credit Cards during my travel and when I flet like a fish out of water, she came to my rescue and helped me by transferring funds instantly. Such incidents made our hearts come closure and I felt Cupid striking his arrow on us.

Now, Chennaivasis can see us frequently travelling in my ‘Hunk’ especially on Kamarajar Salai where our love story started. Her handbag is a precious thing which I kept safely in my locker. We thank the God of love 'CUPID’ I am to tie the knots on coming Sunday, and cordially solicit your distinguished presence on this happy occasion and your blessing too... Boss.

With regards:)

Balasubramani Sir

You got it in your System to write interesting episodes, you gave equally matching , write up to renukaji..
Now i am expecting some more entries so that the Great Brahmanyam Sir will have tough time to choose the best.
He has to give reasons for choosing the best also!!

Fortunately I am not doing that!!

Dear Bala Sir,

I agree with you.

PJ sir..may be we do not need to compete to win but everyone just writes their stories to share their imaginations with each other..that way we can learn and pick up new ideas and writing skills from each other.

What do you say PJ sir??

Competitions sometimes kills the beauty of enjoyment.

Dear Sri Padmanabhan,

Yes, I agree with Doctor and Sri Bala. Let the imagination spread its wings to fly high without competition.

Regards,
Brahmanyan,
Bangalore.

Brahmanyan Sir is for allowing the imaginations "to fly high"

I also see the point.

Now what about this one?
