I happened to view this Mani Ratnam film recently.

Two individuals -youngsters with different career dreams -girl wanting to go to france for career in architecture and boy desiring to go to US for making a Gaming

video get into a romantic relationship in mumbai. Both decide to opt for a live in in a flat belonging to an old couple.

Slowly the families of the boy and the girl come to know of it and are not able to come to terms with their Live in status.

Both , slowly both realise that they would not like to part with each other and end up getting committed for life . both Dilqar salman and Nitya menon portray

their roles with conviction. highlight of the film is Rehmans music and vairamuthus lyrics besides nice photography.

Song -Malargal Kaettaen -chitra,vairamuthu ,rehman is nice based on carnatic music raga..

another nice song is 'Naane Varugiren'. great lyrics

others are typical rehman rap music appealing to youngsters.

A movie appealing young tamil upper castes[ since it depicts their lifestyle aspirations] . not definitely a film for the masses.

both the young actors did their roles convincingly. Does it reflect changing lifestyle of tamil upper caste youth?

I think, the hero is the son of Malayalam Star Mammooty.

Is it commercially success or one more flop to Mani Ratnam?

What is the idea of bringing a Malayalam Star in Tamil Movie? Can't he tap a local talent?

Most of the songs are sung by jonita gandhi, shasha tripati, kartik, satyaprakash. most of them are not tamil singers though they sing in tamil.

They sing in tamil admirably well.

Both Nitya and dulquar are malayalis . They do justice to their roles.

In films how one performs matters ,not their backgrounds.

Some local talent could have also performed. It all depends on the director whom he casts.

A really well made film- though I do not know if it was a commercial success

First of all, I am not a language fanatic, and my favourite singers are Latha (actually everyone's) and Mukesh, even though I have no knowledge in Hindi.

Since 1995, I have not seen any Tamil movie in a theatre, let alone TV.

I was a hardcore Shivaji fan and worked for Shivaji Mandram during my school and college days.

It is nice to see Tamil Singers are getting opportunities to sing in Tamil films, as most of the earlier year singers are from AP or Kerala.

Considering Mani Ratnam's reputation, he could have introduced Tamil actors.

The logic of 'performance matters' can be uttered only in Tamil Nadu.

Whether it is cinema or carnatic music, unfortunately Tamil takes the back seat.

Sometimes people get a feeling their language takes a backseat in their own state.

IN bangalore karnataka, there was a violent movement that kannada is not being given its due.

people preferred hindi,tamil movies.

tamil is spoken by a lot of people.

In IT companies or MNCs local fellows are not employed.

IN Tamilnadu, tamil isai does not get promoted.most prefer carnatic music to it.

in films , most female stars are from other states like AP ,kerala.

even political parties look for leaders from other states.

My feeling is because Tamil presidency had AP ,parts of karnataka and many telugus settled in tamilnadu over the years.

chennai attracted people of telugu origin in large numbers.

due to its cosmopolitan nature, chennai took everyone into its fold .

tamil speaking people got marginalised in this process.

even in mumbai ,local marathis grumble about biharis, bengalis crowding them out of jobs.

due to education and job oppurtunities in tamilnadu , there is bound to be influx of people from other states.

I suppose we have to live with it

The purpose of cinema is two fold - entertainment and expose day to day problems being experienced by people e.g. water problem shown in Tamil film Thanneer Thanneer.

For both versions, local talent can be tapped.

But directors, especially reputed, are not ready to spend time to identify. Instead they chase the already established ones, imported from outside the State.

It is said most of the Tamil films are not commercially successful.

When cinemas got first made in tamilnadu, artists from stage [theatre] moved into films.

This ensured local talents got used.

with the gradual decline of theatre , this source has slowly died leaving the field open for others.

also dubbing of voice has enabled specially female actors [of fairer colour, looks] to gain an entry . Their voices get dubbed by local voices to get over the language

barrier.

film economics is such that high payments to top stars damages the health of the industry. there is hardly any regulation.

Very few films give returns . All established names are fading . As it is artists have a short career span . A few flops ,they go into oblivion
