5. Sri Brahmasirakandeesar with Ambal Mangalambigai at Tirukaandiyur, Tanjore Dist.

The Perungalur is in the Pudukottai - Thanjavur road. I have visited the temple and
it takes an hour or so by road. I am aware of this temple Goddess Mangalambika Sametha
Lord Malaiappan Swami. Here Sri Mangalambika is very famous and a number of couples
who do not have child visit this temple. Being the family Deity, certain rituals are followed.
The aithegam of this temple is that the family has to go to the pond behind the temple first
going though a Banyan tree with Lord Vigneswarar sitting underneath the tree.
I have seen people taking a dip in the pond, and proceed towards the Vigneswarar and
pray him first. Some light a Vilakku and show Camphor to the Lord and brake a Coconut
to fulfill their desires. Only after this, devotees proceed towards south of the village
and then go to the temple to worship the famous Lord Adisesha and Nav-Kanya.
Here again a pond is available from where one has to fetch 3 types of water, just like
Rameshwaram in wells and the family members take a bath again. Once this formality
is over i.e. after visiting Adisesha and Nav-kumari/kanya Deities, the family members
proceed to Lord Karupanna Swamy. After worshiping here, devotees at last proceed
to Malaiappa Swamy and Goddess Mangalambigai. Here also family members, like
Sri Mathurakali Amman Temple, Siruvachur, MAV-VILLUKKU is offered to the Goddess
-i.e. light the lamp in the specially prepared rice powder with jaggery to Goddess Mangalambigai.
In Shri Mathurakali Amman Temple, Siruvachur, Mav-Vilakku Powder is prepared within the temple
after the ladies take bath in the temple premises. I enjoyed my trip to this temple.

Thank you Mr Balasubramania, the reason I started this thread is to ensure similar enjoyable experience for all at Perungalur, I have always felt that I can do a little more for my Kuladeivam, so was looking for like minded people in this forum, who share similar sentiments

: Perungalur Koil - Malayamadangar/ Mangalambikai as Kuladeivam

For all those in thhis forum, whose Kuladeivam is Malayamadngar/ Mangalambikai, can you please reply to this thread, with your e-mail IDs

Regards

Karthik

Dear Sri "Karthik",

Our Kuladeivam is Malayamarungar (Malayappan - மலையப்பன் ) and Mangalambikai in Perungalur. Till last generation it was the custom in our family to name the first child in the family as Malayappan or Hariharan if it is a male child or Mangalam if it is a female child. I have been to this Temple complex a few times when ever I visited Tanjavur.
I have written about this temple in my Blog in Tamil Brahmins Forum which is available in the following URL:

http://www.tamilbrahmins.com/blogs/brahmanyan/3104-perungalur.html

Kindly let me know if you need any other details about this temple.

Regards,
Brahmanyan,
Bangalore.
