Our batteries can’t grow any denser or any more efficient, so manufacturers have lately resorted to reducing charging times. Qualcomm has been making some real progress with its QuickCharge technology that charges almost half of the battery’s capacity within minutes, which could be useful in a pinch.
Now, Qualcomm has announced Quickcharge 3.0, which using a technology called Intelligent Negotiation for Optimum Voltage, can charge the phone from 0% to 80% within 35 minutes. The rest would take longer, of course, but getting a phone to 80% within minutes is unprecedented.
The new technology is also more efficient, and batteries last longer, so you don’t need to worry about the heat reducing the lifespan of the batteries. There has been a massive decrease in power dissipation, helping improve efficiency.
QuickCharge 3.0 would be found on Qualcomm’s chipset lineup for 2015, including the likes of the 820, the 620, 618 and more.
What do you think? Up for faster charging speeds?
