Namaste Friends!

I hope that all of you are doing well and playing nicely together these days. I have unfortunately had little time to participate on the board due to life being so packed with adventure and change. Regardless of the amount I have been able to participate in the board I hope that you are all aware that I hold a special place in my heart for you all and hope that you and your families are all well.

In December I returned to the state I grew up in (Tennessee) in order to be close to my elders and help them as they age and their health declines. What I thought was going to be a drag of a task has turned out to be a great blessing. I truly couldn't be much happier here though and I am learning valuable lessons about family, friends, and life.

So many of you have seen and helped me hash through many natural questions and obstacles that a westerner might encounter while entering into Sanatana Dharma formally. For that I thank you all. It was a wonderful opportunity to step to the plate and act as Sri Ganesha's own hands and you all have done and continue to do so with deft ease and skill. For that I am eternally grateful to the community on this site.

On May 2, 2013 after nearly 20 years of study, the last eight of which being true pursuit in earnest, I received my Samaya Diksha! I received initiation from Sivaguru Shanmugamji Sivachariar, the son of the late great Sri Sambamurty Shivachariar. There are truly no words I can use to describe the immense significance and power of the occasion. The entire ritual (which is no short ceremony) was literally exploding with love. On that morning large parts of me were laid to rest while even older parts were reawakened. A new man was born. Connections between old friends were reinforced, cut and retied as true family. Roman Hunt was laid aside and from that point Siddheshvara Aghoraganaha began to walk the earth and singing the holy name of god. A man with few family members took off the sad identity of an lonely orphan and wrapped himself in the warmth of a large and true family that loves him.

These days I fill almost all of my time teaching yoga professionally. I spend my Sundays teaching yoga to children and families at our Sri Ganesha Temple as seva to the community. Life has truly blessed me. Yet again I had to (or rather think that I had to) lose everything to achieve my goal. In retrospect all I had to do was let go of what I thought I already knew. That has never been easy for me (or maybe anyone for that matter). I am blessed to keep having the opportunity to learn though even if it is often the same lesson repeatedly.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and tell you all that I hope you are well.

Sincerely,
Siddheshvara Aghoraganaha

Congratulations Boston.

Namaste Siddheshvara Aghoraganaha!

I have been wondering on your long silence.

I am glad you have achieved your long time dream.

I can imagine the happiness at this fulfillment.

It is good to note that people wherever they may be born identify and

reach their destination with a built-in spiritual-compass-needle.

May Lord Ganesha bless you for all that you do to spread Indian culture

and spiritual saadhana.

I salute to you for your achievement and bless you since you are younger

than my own sons!

You are welcome to spread the Indian philosophy and stories from

Puraanaas by using these links:

Vinayaka PuraaNam - Visalakshi Ramani

God bless you my son!

Well, you are truly blessed, because by destiny you have found what would make you 'poornam'; I am so happy you got the initiation, as you started in this Forum, expressing your frustration of not finding anyone who would initiate.

God bless.

KRS

Jaya Jaya Sankara! Hara Hara Sankara!

Welcome to the Shivacharya fold! Are your services being rendered near your hometown in Tennessee or you have set up elsewhere? Could any of us Indians, during our sojourn in the USA, have the pleasure of incorporating a visit to the Ganesha Temple where you are offering seva?

dear friends,

Let us call our friend by the NEW name he has EARNED after 20 long years of studying and trying.
Please do not belittle his achievement by calling him merely as boston or sanakra. :pray2:

Dear Sis,

I don't think we are belittling him by fondly calling as Boston / Sankara, which are in his forum name!

Our hearty congratulations to you. I am curious about your new name Siddheshvara Aghoraganaha. From your name of Aghora ganaha, are you following that of Aghori sanyasins?

People take pride in assuming and using the titles
which are available dime a dozen and
which practically carry no weight or value.
Some examples....
செம்மனச் செம்மல்
செந்தமிழ்க் காவலர்
முத்தமிழ் வித்தகர்
டாக்டர்
வள்ளல்
இமயம்
கவிஞர்
கலைஞர்
தளபதி
மீசைக்கார (முருகேசன்)
SO why not give due respect to the tile hard earned...
whatever might have been the user name in the past/present???

A spiritual initiation implies a shepherding process where someone who is at a higher level (an Acharya) guides the initiate through a ritual process, including greater exposure to traditions and spiritual knowledge. It signifies a transformation in which the initiate is 'reborn' into a new role.

Initiations can therefore, in some instances, produce cognitive dissonance in the early stages, and so one needs to be intensely alert and aware. Interaction with the right kind of persons ( like religious support groups), with free and constructive exchange of thought processes will go a long way towards achieving the desired objectives, whatever they may be. Avoiding cynics is a must.

There are some guidelines to be followed after initiation, or in the traditional Hindu parlance, after taking Diksha.

After initiation, the initiate is expected to maintain regularity in daily routine of worship or rituals ( Upasana), a persistent endeavour for developing purity in thoughts, words and deeds by studying scriptures and interacting with like-minded persons ( Sadhana ) and by donating a part of one’s time and resources for welfare activities ( Aradhana).

I am mentioning all this because my own brother had taken diksha from a very powerful Sakti Upasakar, and in the early stages it was tough going for him.

Namaste All!

Thank you all for your kind words and continued support! It really means the world to me! :)

Dear tbs ji,

If I remember correctly (it has been a few years) Sri Ganesh Ji is the Sivachariar at Sri Murugan Temple in Lanhamm MD. He did not perform the diksha although he has performed Ganapati Homam for me at my home when I lived in the area. The man has a beautiful little family and performs pujas in grand style. I really can't suggest him highly enough if you ever have any need of a priest outside of the temple.

My guru Sri Shanmugam Sivachariar lives in Chennai and is a priest at Sri Kalikambal Temple there. Here is an article about him and his father performing Chandi Homam in the DC area to relieve a drought.

Sincerely,
Siddheshvara

Namaste mskmoorthy ji,

At a point during the ceremony while blindfolded the initiate drops a flower onto the diksha mandala which consists of four linga aligned with the N, S, E, and W directions. Where that flower lands on the mandala denotes the face of Shiva and line of Rishis from which you originate. Sadyojata - West, Vaamadeva - North, Tatpurusha - East, and Aghora - South. As I am a NB -ganaha is added (as opposed to -siva) to denote my origins. To answer your question directly.... As being born of the Aghora face of god, yes I am an Aghori, but no I am not a Tantric Ascetic engaged in vaamachara tantra. :)
