Sant Tukaram Maharaj's Marathi Abhangs are treasure trove of wisdom.
Here is a couple of them.

He, who does not serve his parents during their lifetime and offers rice to them after their death, is useless.

Who would like to be crucified on a cross of sandalwood?
Similarly none would like to remain tied in the chain of gold.
Similarly whatever knowledge one gains is a burden if that raises one's ego.
