Click on it and it will at first give you 5 options. 


If you opt for more it will show ~150 smilies. 


Select the one you want to post.


You may drag it to where you want to post it.


 If  you click where you want to post the smiley BEFORE selecting it 


and click on the smiley after selecting it, it will get added there .
