Why should there be anything at all instead of nothing? A very fundamental question. The best way to approach this is to start by saying existence prevails over non existence and that makes existence fundamental. By extension it makes eternity fundamental. This is the physical aspect. But if something exists what's the point if it is not aware it exists. So self awareness or self consciousness is another fundamental aspect. This is the mental thing. What if the existence turns out to be a torture. So if it is eternal and we are self aware it has to be pleasant or in other words blissful. This is the third or the spiritual aspect of reality.


That's how Brahman was succinctly defined as existence, consciousness and bliss. In a non ultimate or illusory reality we may have the non real aspects come and go. That's why we call it un real or illusion.
