The court order said: “The contents of the irumudi are always held to be holy. The need to preserve their sanctity cannot be permitted to be eroded by availability of the materials which have once been used for the purpose of the pilgrimage as they relate to articles which are to be filled in the Irumudi and never intended to be reused or recycled.’’

There was a post some time back in this forum about the recyled flowers sold back to devotees in the shops near temples!

The TDB has been reusing the rice brought by pilgrims in the Irumudikkettu for making Appam for the past many years and this practice continued even after the Court order in 2015.
So, how do they use that rice? Any idea?

Belief is a source of livelihood for millions. I suppose, as in every business, they too are working towards efficiency. Only thing not desired might be transparency !!! :)

Very true! I have seen in Palani and Vadapalani temples how some garlands offered God are sent back to the shops efficiently! :spy:

Recycling is holy here ! Transparent and official -

God is pleased with the recyled Garland from his beloved - He would not enter Vaigai with out this Garland !

Even flowers on the dead are recyled I am told in some places!

Here is a different take on recycling flowers from funeral homes.

Random Acts of Flowers improves the emotional health and well-being of inviduals in health care facilities
by delivering recycled flowers

Thank you MSK Sir for the links. There are good ideas in the West and this proves it. :thumb: [/Q

In the East the recyled Garland goes from சவம் to சிவம்! unlike the West where it is சவம் to சவம்!

In delhi , flowers on dead bodies at nigambodh ghat on banks of yamuna , get recycled and sold at traffic signals to women riding in cars .

Women unknowingly buy them and adorn their hair with them.

They smell nicely of flowers and agarbatti put on dead bodies.

Please read carefully, J J ji! It is not சவம் to சவம். :nono:

It goes only to oldies who are not taken care of by their kith and kin.

Same happens in the famous beach of Sing. Chennai.

Shall we say சாவு கிராக்கி to சாவு கிராக்கி as uncared oldies are usually called by the Kith and kin.!?
