Regarding Shrardhams

Dear Users of this site.

Namaskarams.

In a recent past, I read a Tamil News Paper that those who died in Ekadasi, their shardhams (Thirhi) should not be conducted on Ekadasi and only to be performed in Dwadasi.

There are lot of educational, vedic and shastra qualified elders who can clear me about it. Because, my mother passed away in Ekadasi and we are doing her shardhams in Ekadasi only since 1992 and none of the Sastrigal were instructed us not to do.

Please help me out.

The grihya sutras do not make such an exception. It is I think a custom which has come into use as in Ekadasi dat people are supposed to fast

I feel above answer fits to logic. As people are supposed to fast, you may not get suitable person to partake the bhojanam.

In regardto Ekaadasi maranam, what I haave heard is :

Ekaadasi Maranam Dwaadasi Dhahanam " is to be very good for the departed soul.

There may be opinions against this. I do not have any interpretation. This is what I used to hear.

Respected Sharmaji,

Thank You very much for the details.

Hello Sirs....

In Dharma Sastram - Sraartha Gaandam - Chapter 34 describes the various methods of srartham.....

Whis describes as follows:

5) It has no quote specially on Ekadasi or Dwadasi...

Hope it clears.... to my knowledge.

Thnaks a lot for clarifications.
