The iconic record of Sachin Tendulkar who has created a world record of 100 centuries is an amazing feat...Looks like Sachin who was out of form during his England & Australian tours has regained his magic touch and redeemed his place in the team...The record is going to last for a long time to come...Has made all Indians proud...Congratulations to the God of cricket
 
No doubt really an achievement - but at the cost of losing the match because of the poort striket rate-inspite of recording a highest even chasing by India against Pakistan today - we are not sure of getting a place in the final - forced to wait for the outcome of Banladesh Vs Srilanka match. However, Schin's century is the most important even and let all of us shower our praise and start the process of building a temple for him.

Well. You always want more. His is a remarkable achievement and mostly of his own. Nobody would talk of many of his 90s, 99s. His 100s have been in good winning matches. Hundreds of contenders to climb the peak, and he stands alone ahead. Well done India you have another illustrious son.
 
I thought that Sachin would play one hundred test matches

more before he gets his hundredth Test century!

I was happy and sad after our dear Sachin scored his hundredth hundred!
Reminded me of the saying: 'Operation success! But patient died!!' :peace:
 
hang on before you all crown him as God ! Sachin is no great talent like Lara, Viv Richards, nowhere near a genius talent like Don Bradman.

Only in our country, mass hysteria leads to many people being declared Genius like Sachin, Rajiv Gandhi & now Rahul/Priyanka - LOL !.

The true genius like Narasimha Rao are relegated to history foot note, without him "none of us" here would be on this forum !!. Similarly Ramanujam & many others - largely forgotton ..

Sachin is a result of "mob hysteria", "Big Hype", "media fools" & now become a "BIG Headache & nuisance" since he has no plans to retire !!.

It is shocking to see people paying glowing tributes to this "silly fellow" as against the many yeoman services by many NGO's, social workers, entrepreunuers,etc...

Whether performed at the speed of a rabbit or tortoise...
OR to put it in more contemporary terms....
whether the achievement was done
with the speed of an e mail or a snail mail,
it still is an achievement!

Dear sir,

Sachin is a citizen of India and I assume you are a fellow citizen too.
Sachin has scored well in the field of sports and thats no easy feat either.

Just be happy at least for Sachin's sake.I dont see anything wrong sharing the happiness with your fellow citizen.
 
In this high decibel pro and anti sachin banter, let us remind ourselves that he is a rajapur saraswat brahmin, whose ancestors were driven out of goa by islamic rulers and later by the christians. It is rare for a brahmin to be so eulogized.

Saraswats prospered for many centuries in Gomantak region. In 13th, 14th and 15th centuries, Saraswats migrated to different places for many reasons. In 1328, army of Tughalaks (Delhi Sultan) captured the Kadamba capital Chandrapur which included Gomantak region and looted it. Gomantak province came under Bahmani (Muslim ruler) rule in 1352 AD [SUP][4][/SUP] and ruled about quarter century, and again in 1472 AD. Bahamani Muslims attacked and destroyed many temples and forced people to convert to Islam. In 1510 Portuguese established their rule in Gomantak after capturing it from Adil Shah of Bijapur dynasty.
The subsequent entry of Christian missionories made the matter worse for Hindus and Saraswat Brahmins. The Hindu temples were destroyed, Hindus were forced to convert to Christianity, Hindu religious functions were banned, people were also forced to eat beef. In 1559 AD, King Joao III of Portugal issued a decree threatening expulsion or execution of non-believers in Christianity. In about 1560 AD, beautiful temple at Keloshi, Kushasthali (Mangesh, Shanta durga), Shri Gaudapadacharya Math at Keloshi and about 280 temples were destroyed in Berdez and 300 temples in Salcette, and many churches were built.
This was perhaps worst and humiliating time for the Saraswat Brahmins. To avoid this humiliation and religious persecution, several Saraswat families fled to different directions such as Mangalore, north Canara in Karnataka, Cochin in Kerala, Ratnagiri District in Maharashtra to name few, some families who could not afford to flee or resist the persecution converted to Christianity, some who could resist but were not willing to abandon their farms and business stayed on and rebuilt their lives.
They built few temples in these places and continued Smartha tradition. They have their surnames like Lotlikar,Tendulkar,Salwankar, Karlekar etc. (ref. names given under 'Upanamas' in below table of Gotras) which are the original names of Gomantak villages.

Lets us all try to see Sachin firstly as a citizen of India that has done his country proud.
 
Everyone need not sing the same tune. Let us get a 360 degree view. He has good and bad reviews. Some time back there was a view that if he scores a hundred india will lose the match.

But when it comes to victory for doing country proud everyone sings the National Anthem isnt it..so its the same song and same tune too.
 
Ref: Post # 9: Of course nobody is god. Sachin is good. As some people made Kushboo a goddess, Rajnikanth a god so has somebody think Sachin as one. If only I know... if only I know for certain that he is god.... These are all super-hyperbolic eulogy. His is an achievement by his own efforts and the best criticism of that could be that he did not make those runs.

We have already defeated a better side subsequently and Sachin scored over 50, not resting on his laurels. It is sheer dedication to the game, not the laurels.
 
Sachin has done Pride for India apart from his own glory.I respect him as an Indian and appreciate his performance.Let God's Grace be more on him to do better and better.

It is true that in any game where there is lot of money to make what with advertisements, product promotions, IPL there would be envy but Sachin is the darling of the masses with his commitment, professional approach & never-say-die attitude among all players
 
In a country where 800 million people live in dire poverty, this hero worship is cruel, unfortunate & terrible. what has he done ?. he is a cricketer & achieved some silly record. there are so many people who are doing yeoman service in this country who need to be worshipped so that the next gen is inspired by them.

what is the point of millions aspiring for being a cricketer. !

Lets all pl get a sense of perspective here !

who is a hero ?

Narasimha Rao who liberated the country from the junk socialist policies of the Gandhi family is a hero.

Narayan Murthy the entrepreneur who created lakhs of jobs is a hero !

Millions of social workers, NGOs, Red Cross, world vision, Sai trust, are Heroes - they are helping the poor every day

what has this Sachin fellow done ? to be a hero & given Barath ratna !? has he helped the poor ?. has he supported any cause ?. like Bal Thackeray said, he has not given anything to the poor except the shirt he wore for the game to be auctioned.

he played on the mumbai streets with the slum kids to learn cricket, has he helped them ?. all his child hood friends have been dumped by your so called hero ?

Now he played a silly game, stuck to the chair like a leech for 23 yrs, created some silly record which is totally useless & all of you want to revel in pleasure becos of his achievement !.
