sandyavandana procedure

The Sandyavandanam book published by Giri Trading Company mentions that the Gayatri Japa in the evening Sandyavandanam is chanted facing west before sun set and facing east after sunset. Is it right? If so, whether the Varuna Prarthana mantra (इमं मे वरुण ....) and and other subsequent mantras including the sooryanarayana mantra (नमः सवित्रे...) are also should be chanted facing east after sunset?
