Its diwali and firecrackers around giving a new fragrance to the air we breath pumping in us the festival mood. <absolutely no need to bring in the missionary part into it.. the message/question can be asked without such "mindless/provoking" statements.>
Every Indian spends a days salary which goes on to the kitty of hindu nadars of sivakasi which counts to 0.3% of our GDP.

Should we encourage or discourage the diwali firecrackers?

Encourage with safty improvements.
Noisy crackers (decibals can be regulated by Govnment.)in producer place.
Well Educate the Children of the Safety Hazards of crackers.
Elders can make use of the Money spent crackers on Helping the Needy.etc

We can have community fire work displays the way do in U.S.A.

A large ground (free of buildings and trees) can be selected and fire works may be displayed -keeping the general public at a safe distance.

The crackers, the way they are burst now, cause too much noise and produce too much litter and smoke in the crowded populated areas.

Rockets cause fire accidents. Most people don't live in fire proof houses and the fire spreads very fast!

As the cost of crackers spirals beyond the affordability of people not so well off, this will be a blessing in disguise.

It will save them money at the same time they can enjoy the fire works and have fun.
