Some Thoughts on Sixth Sense

Everyone is aware of their five basic senses, seeing, feeling, smelling, hearing and tasting.
Is this Sixth Sense keeping Humans apart from animals?
The sixth sense in the animal kingdom is a sense which tells animals about the dangers they may face; humans come to know such dangers through Technology.
Then what is that called Sixth Sense?

Is it extra Sensory Perception?
Almost every one of us knows the feeling when the right decision is taken by itself, by intuition. Sometimes this sensation is called “sixth sense”. Intuitively decision is often more correct and can help find solutions to all sorts of problems in everyday life.

Have you seen the movie called the Sixth Sense, where Bruce Willis was that dead guy who didn't know he was dead? How about that very famous line "I see dead people"? Try to imagine yourself in the shoes of that psychic child who can communicate with the spirits of those who have passed on. The child was very scared every time he had a close encounter with these spirits. However, they say any extra-ordinary ability can be a psychic ability
The 6th Sense is often referred to as ESP, or extra-sensory perception; is it a very rare psychic ability to transmit and receive information outside the five human senses. The 6th Sense often uses what is known as the "third eye". This third eye is invisible and located between your eyebrows, in the center of your forehead.
The sixth sense seems to operate without any help at all from the body; it seems
to be entirely mental.
Generally the sixth sense is known for the ability to sense danger but sometimes it is associated with one’s gut-instinct when trying to choose the right course of action.
The ability to sense danger is uncanny, that is, to sense something beyond the capacity of the other five senses

Is this Sixth Sense Feeling?

· Think back of dreams you had that later seemed to come true. These are times when you experience the feeling that you have been through this before.
· Recall the times that you had a hunch or feeling that something would happen and then it really did happen. Of course, most times these feelings are the result of knowledge you may have about the incident, but there are times when you just had that special feeling and then the event came true.
· Think of the times you have thought of the same thing at the same time as another person. Eliminate those times that it was just a coincidence. Also think of the times when you seemed to know what someone was thinking. Eliminate those situations where you could read their body language; Remember situation where you felt a spiritual presence of someone or something. If you recall these events which would show that there were times in your life when you used what appeared to be your 6th sense?
''This sixth sense isn't something that is magical. It is something that the human brain is wired to do. The research shows that we do have the capacity to understand people at a deeper level than we normally do in general conversation.'' (Says Ms Stratford, who has a master's degree in psychotherapy)
Hindu Concept of Sixth Sense
A Human form is the sum of three parts body, mind, and the soul (spirit). It is impossible for any human to live if any of these parts are inoperative
The body is the physical form we manifest. The body as it is called is no more than a complex network of tissues, systems, and organs that work together to sustain life. It is the shell of a human. Without a body we fail to exist on the terrestrial terrain we refer to as earth.
When life has been extinguished all shells will breakdown and crumble to dust. In this sense we are all alike

Mind
The mind is the complex interaction of spirit and the body. Information flows through the body (brain) but our spirit allows us to take joy or respond in anguish to that which we are witness to. Mind and body exist separately; the mind and brain casually interact, but not often. When the body dies, the soul goes to the afterlife.
The soul and the brain must interact because soul is defined as a faculty of thought, action, and end emotion. Actions are imagined in the soul (or mind), but they must be carried out through the brain.
Spirit
The spirit is an unseen internal force. The spirit is what makes us human separating us from animals who survive by baser instincts. When God speaks he speaks to the spirit of man. It is our inner man that feels the impact of His call.

Is this spiritual feeling is called Sixth Sense?

Some may argue that even animals have spirits and they have better Sixth sense

I leave this topic to you; you can form your own opinion and educate everyone

Cheers!!!

We are able to visualize in 3 dimensions. We can also see time as fourth dimension. But beyond that we are not able to comprehend. Mathematician talk about nth dimension, and prove it.
Similarly there is limitation of our perceptions to five senses. I am sure there are many more that we are not aware. We do not even use 505 of our given senses. Some people are able to hone their senses more than others. Some animals have evolved their senses to higher awareness.

Hello PJR Sir,A very nice ,worth OP ,In general ,when one person can analysis ,understand the presence of ESP,only through our 5 vital senses.I personally know some people with these ESP skills /powers. certain people can see /visualize the presence of occult figures, As the great legend BHARATHYAR stated,( utt chevai therakun) opening of inner ear ,can allow the capacity to hear the occult / extra ordinary voices.presence of any negative / occult things can be smelled by few people true followers of kerala kodungullar bagavathy amman. Sir the all statements stated are 100 % true .As the mention few people are my very close friends ,who still interact with their ancestors. as they guide them on proper time.

DR.NARAYANI JI

I wonder why Ma Sita could not foresee the danger of falling to Golden Deer in Ramayana; Even Sri Rama could not foresee that; probably only that way Lord Maha Vishnu wanted to happen

Coming to Mahabharata, none except Sahadeva and Queen Ghandari could foresee the destruction of Kauravas in Kuruchetra war.
Sahadeva was a great astrologer and was supposed to have known the events of the Mahabharata War beforehand but was cursed that if he disclosed the knowledge, his head would split in pieces. Hence, his relatively silent role in the epic compared to the other brothers.
Krishna once asked Sahadeva, what should be done to
stop the war. Sahadeva told that
Krishna must be tied
down and prisoned and all the Pandavas along with
Duryodhana must be sent to forest and Karna must be
made the king. When krishna challenged him to tie him
down, Sahadeva started meditating and envisioned
Krishna as a small baby and tied him down. Since
Krishna could not move out of his bondage created by
Sahadeva in his meditative trance, he blessed him with
divine vision and Sahadeva released
Krishna from the
bondage which he made in his meditation.

About Queen Ghandhari, Vyasa, her father-in-law and the greatest sage of the age, reminds her how her son Duryodhana had come to her every morning of those eighteen days of war, seeking her blessing for victory and how she had refused to bless him each time. “It’s you who repeatedly said ‘victory comes with dharma’ on all those eighteen days,” he tells her.

If nature had felt that Man (humans) should better have the sixth, seventh or the nth. sense, then Nature, or God (for those who will prefer that) would have given this ability to each and every one of us. The sign of spiritual maturity lies in not going after what we don't have but to make the best of life with whatever capacities we have.

Dear Sri. Sangom,

We have a sixth sense may be even more. We don't use them most of the times. I know I used some unexplained sense few times. Instinct? I may call that. But I know I had that extra sense. I saved myself once at the last possible split second ( I was watching the persons watching me.. at one point they all covered their eyes... it was because they did not want to watch me getting cut in the middle.. I moved out of that danger, but it was not a voluntary action). I saved some one else in the same way in a different occassion; in that occassion I was immersed in calculating trigonometry.. accident was happening behind me... in the last split second I got up and stopped it.. again it was involuntary.

Oh yes, we have a sixth sense. Often times my sixth sense if delivers a message, it doesn't lie at all.

Cheers!

Beautifully said.

Sixth Sense is not something which we do not have, God has already given us and subconsciously we use it sometime like what Sri Raghy sir said in his post no7
Intuition is an unconscious form of knowledge. It is immediate and often not open to rational / analytical thought processes.
