The discrimination has to be finally shown and inculcated in self. Thats when you are able to see higher truths ignoring distractions. The point of karmic reaction is when you exhibit the understanding. As i said one does not have to believe in laws of karma but just accept the intelligence inbuilt in nature the understanding of which we can proactively use for self development. From physics to biology to AI to any discipline we are only trying to understand or mimic nature. That itself says we concede that nature has that inbuilt intelligence.
