The Digital Evolution Index is a comparative framework built to enable pattern recognition into how internet technology is transforming marketplaces – a developing area of the global economy whose effects are unfolding daily.

It is little more than I can understand. LOL

China, Malaysia, Thailand and even Vietnam are ahead of India in the pace of digitization in past 5 years (2008-13)

What exactly are we talking about here? We have computerized banks, online banks, eGovernance in some areas, online railway reservation for years, sites like Flipkart... what is missing?

Digitization is not just plain computerization....All aspects of our life are digital..We buy all provisions, vegetables, fruits, milk, coffee powder digitally,we hire a taxi by apps & pay the tariff digitally, pay all bills, rents, taxes, school feed digitally, book movie, rail, bus and air tickets digitally, all land records are digitized, No paper money almost..We need to have a fabulous speed of internet ,,,high speed internet (similar to South Korea 23 Mbit/s while India is 1.7Mbit/s as per 2014 ranking)...Then we are on the right path..If 41% of population is unbanked as in India what sort of digitization can we expect..We have taken baby steps..But long way to go, Sir

Thanks for the reply.. I have seen USA/UK grocery shops allowing the grocery delivery to house... but it may not be feasible for lot of our small vendors to setup infrastructure or provide these kind of services. It may also not be required.. atleast we can have a walk and away from our daily computer routine. School communication is another good thing that will make reaching out to right people easy. I have seen some preschools in USA telecasting day care centre activities live in the websites - so that parents will not be concerned of their children. Others- we seem to be doing but unifying them and making it easy, reachable to all can be the goal. However, the moment I hear digitization I think about IT companies pounding on them to throw some garbage products to Government schemes (though not all).
