A wise woman who was traveling in the mountains found a precious stone in a stream. The next day she met another traveler who was hungry, and the wise woman opened her bag to share her food.
The hungry traveler saw the precious stone and asked the woman to give it to him. She did so without hesitation. The traveler left, rejoicing in his good fortune. He knew the stone was worth enough to give him security for a lifetime. But a few d...ays later he came back to return the stone to the wise woman.
"I've been thinking," he said, "I know how valuable the stone is, but I give it back in the hope that you can give me something even more precious. Please give me what you have within you that enabled you to give me the stone."

Good story. Great message.
Doubt: did the lady know the worth of the stone? Why did she save it? What is she going to do with it, if it is of no use to her.

The worth of anything depends on the use of it. A diamond is worthless to a monkey.

So also to a saint... but they have the liberty to put to use for the benefit of others.

The lady might have saved it for the grand occasion she can pass it on.

Putting to use might not simply imply oneself always....

A stone of any value has same use for the monkey (it is tool to smash a nut).

Ok, Prasadji, it had been my poor understanding then... all this happens in online fora a lot. Without knowing body language and face-to-face interaction, we try to judge others from purely written replies and misunderstand things. I am editing my previous reply to remove the section you quoted. If you are in the mood to do so, kindly do the same...

Cheers!

Dear Prasad Sir,

Good joke of the day! Enjoyed the video you have posted.

BTW, can there be 'that big' precious stone with that wise woman? :noidea:

I think the monkey looks for sometig inside the nut (the stone) to eat.
