Sunday Reflections

Another sunday.

a different one -a day after independance day.

yesterday , delhi was almost a ghost town .

Almost empty streets in the morning .

Very tight security.

Hardly any vehicles on the roads . All shops closed.

One saving grace was newspapers available and better water supply and no power failures.

what was interesting was modis speech -the rhetoric selling dreams and exhibiting optimism was a treat. No glass enclosure at redfort podium.

The collected audience included govt employees directed to attend in full numbers.

but what was missing was the kite flying due to bad weather and downpour in the evening.

TV presented a nice colourful program at wagah border with our BSF including some women for the first time in Beating the Retreat ceremony.

At Attari border , two bollywood music directors duo salim and sulaiman merchant belting out bollywood numbers to entertain BSF jawans and officers.

The lighting at govt buildings was a reassurance that all is well with our democracy.

at presidents AT Home at asoka hotel our politicians across political spectrum hugged each other. . Sonia embraced Speaker Sumitra mahajan and delhi CM

kejriwal hugged Lt governor Jung.I liked the maturity of politicians . They realise political differences need not hurt inter personal relationships

Celebrations over back to the normal work life tomorrow with high prices and bad road and metro traffic .

Kavadias blocking the roads have mercifully passed thru the delhi city and some semblance of order would be back on the roads

with wishes to all on indias independance day though belated

The traffic woes are an eye sore for Delhi and Gurgaon....Even a short downpour results in flooding of roads and traffic moving at snail's pace...7.4 Million cars (2012) only in Delhi ...1400 cars added every day..It takes at times more than 1 hour to travel a distance of 5 Kms..Pathetic state of affairs..You can enjoy the cars only on a week end!
