A week with mostly depressing events .

Death of a regional tamil icon ,cyclone rains in southern coasts, cold wave in north with near nil visibility throwing life[transport, rail, air travel] out of gear,

demonetisation issues ,all adding to misery of common folk.

Yet I am attempting to see the positive side to living.

Nothing prevents me going to a movie[empty theatres] to see some film . Book online with card. No cash needed. They say Alia Bhats Zindagi, Ranveer singhs ' Befikre one could attempt.

S. Bharathis songs could be enjoyed. So can be old film hits on You Tube.

Next five days banks are closed. The employees have given strike call for 14th dec. Any way ATMs have no money.

So a nice cashless week .

TVs cannot be switched on as they give out depressing news only .

I think well off are planning their foreign jaunts.International Air prices are at all time low.Best time to go as we have a christmas and new year week ahead.

By the way , it is worth buying new property now as prices have dropped to all time lows. RERA act if enforced will jack up prices.Magicbrics TV faye de souza is

a wonderful anchor. Listen to her sometime

It is sensible to plunge in stock markets as prices are hitting lows in good stocks.CNBC 's Lata venkatesh is also one of my favorites.

Many normal posters of our forum have gone into their shells.

Will someone post something interesting?

I was fortunate! I could get money from 2 ATM's in Gurgaon yesterday...I was searching for which ATM has cash from cashnocash.com...It said that some obscure ATM in Sohna Road has cash...I went there but the ATM was closed...Cursed the website...Fortunately my driver informed me that ATM near Galleria had cash..So I rushed there..There was a queue of about 40 persons..Stood in the queue for about an hour & collected my cash...My driver stood in another ATM nearby & withdrew cash...So I felt I was richer by Rs 4500 at the end of the day...No one was cribbing..The queue was slow...The wind was chilly...People bore this with a stoic attitude...People are expecting it to normalize by month end...But after seeing PM's statement that it would be a slow recovery after Jan 1, I was disappointed..Probably I may have to stand in queue probably in January too...May be till February!!

Thanks to Vganeji and VBji for their posts.

Liquor shops in delhi have no customers. Who has the money to buy liquor? Most workers have no job or money for day to day living.

Delhi banks have no money to offer due to holidays and ATMs of most bank branches out of money.

Only SBI and some private banks have money in ATMs.
Now the one positive news is indian cricket team scaling new heights with V.Kohlis double century, M.Vijay and Yadav scoring a ton in mumbai test.

Krish Ji,

You are blessed indeed.

Here at Chennai, currently we are experincing heavy down pour and waiting with all anciety bearing in mind the report of weatherman that Cyclclonic storm vardah to cross accompanied by strong winds.

Even if we have liquid cash, one cannot move around to spend it.

Threat of Vardah cyclone keep us .....

Young parents are having tough time with the children staying at Home. Though it is Monday, all Educational Institutes were declared Holiday as a precautionary meaure.

It is reported that among other measures taken to tackle the cyclone and wind, Tamil Nadu Government has also seems to have issued advisory to private companies to let their employees avail leave in view of the impending 'Vardah' cyclone or to permit them to avail holiday permission or work from home.

But, the reality may be that Chennaiites are much worried not about Demonetisation but about the political vacuum..

Even scrap dealers are complaining that business has been hurt.

Buyers of human hair are not picking up stocks collected.

Some temple trustees are a happy lot exchanging new notes for old at a discounted rates.

Godmen have become shrewd businessmen and have become note exchangers.

All chennai residents with rains due to varda must be under tension.

Add to it the political changes and fear that good days of freebies and subsidies may end with loss of a charismatic leader.

Domenetisation -of course people are learning to cope with its after effects.

In delhi , it is almost business as usual.

Most have found ways of getting around the money squeeze.

All construction retailers/wholesalers are issuing a receipt with appropriate VAT amount [ not matching amount actually paid-under invoiced?] with commodities supplied.

Most think it is a phase which will pass .

Now some posts to make us feel good picked up from newspapers.

1.One woman responsible for car pile up in lasvegas due to drunken driving offered sex to cop who tried challaning her .

2. One major general of assam rifles has been court martialled for asking for parting thank you kiss from a female captain he had called to work with him on an assignment.

3. Prince Edward of Britain has no shortage of admirers inspite of sporting a receding hairline due to genetic reasons. Women find him attractive inspite of that

4.Shias are protesting Shahrikh khan jumping over a Moharram procession carrying'Alame Mubarak' in trailer of Raees which they say is disrespecting their community.

5.Rohit Tandon a lawyer who got raided by CBI could get a alert on the phone he was carrying due to alarm installed home He switched on the monitoring feature and

watched the raid on his home

Another Sunday. But a better one.

Enjoying the Hindu way of living in far off Bali.

Right on sandy beaches at kuta ,starting with breakfast spread at holiday inn.

Yesterday saw some local homes with our Indian Gods stone carvings outside every home.

In local hotels got welcomed by waiters with Namaste with palms in our standard mudra.

Intend going to some Hindu temples today.

No problem in getting Indian food in a few Indian hotels here.

local rupiah is counted in thousands, one sing dollar worth 10000. Rupiah.

The local hotels are flooded with mostly Australians.

There are many Indian honey moon couples also

Planning to go to local temples today in afternoon.

Require sarongs to wrap around for entry.

Shall revert after the trip tomorrow

I went to a temple atop a hill cliff over looking the sea 45 km from kita.q

Dress code of sarong around pants and angavastram like cloth around waist both in
dark colours pink and orange.presumably a Vishnu temple as entry to inner sanctum only locals.Only could see dwara palakas small height sculpted pillars over small height
walls

Sights of sea with water banging the walls of cliff and slow sunset was a treat

Also was treated to Balinese dances in open arena with steps .Beautiful female dancers
dressed as Rama,Sita,Lakshman in colourful silks with Ravan kin,Anjaneya ,Jatayu in huge masks played by men. They performed sequences from Ramayan from Ravan enticing Sita,Jatayu fighting to save Sita, hanuman giving ring to Sita and Lanka dahan
with actual lighting of fire,Rama killing Ravana. There were three circles of about 100 performers with bare bodies and sarong for lower half chanting and raising cries like aborigines with drums in background .Very unusual and different.

More in my next.shifting to deeper parts of Bali for better experience of Bali life.bye
