A 24-year-old Muslim technology professional died of injuries after members of the radical right-wing outfit Hindu Rashtra Sena attacked him here on Monday night.

The Pune police said Mohsin Shaikh from Solapur was beaten to death when he was on his way home after evening prayers. The incident is a fallout of communal tensions in the city after morphed derogatory photos of Maratha king Shivaji and Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray were posted on Facebook.

Fourteen Hindu Rashtra Sena activists have been arrested and sent to police custody till June 9 in connection with the murder.
The city has been tense since the weekend after the morphed photos went viral on social media. Right-wing organisations vandalised more than 200 buses last week.

Techie death: Pune police may seek ban on outfit – The Hindu

Two days after a 24-year-old Muslim man was killed allegedly by members of the radical right-wing outfit, the Hindu Rashtra Sena (HRS), the Pune police are contemplating banning the organisation. Seventeen people, all below the age of 30, belonging to the HRS have been arrested on charges of murder, and remanded in police custody.

Mohsin Shaikh, an IT professional, was beaten to death on Monday night by members of the HRS, in what is emerging as a hate crime. The youngsters were incited by rumours that a Shivaji statue was stoned, police said.

Vinita Deshmuk, a former editor of indian express, said in a tv panel discussion that the leader, desai, is a history sheeter, has over 30 criminal charges pending against him and is in the watch list of the police. She said the police and the govt of maharashtra must accept responsibility for doing nothing when his activities and intentions were known. He has no connection with any hindu outfit or religious body. CNN IBN even after the exit of sardesai continues to follow policy of blaming all hindus and accusing parties without evidence.

There was an (in)significant news item that the attack was not random, it was preplanned. Police must be allowed to probe without political interference and punish the guilty.

Honorable members of this Forum,

In my humble opinion, time and again we are proving that we are an intolerant nation. I suggest that the Government of India ban every organization, outfit which is religion based or caste based or community based. I also suggest that the Government ban every institution, organization which is engaged in the business of promoting the interests of a particular religion, caste, community. These institutions are doing more harm than good to India, tearing the secular fabric of our nation, robbing of us of peaceful co-existence, causing disunity in diversity.

As the police arrested 20 people in connection to the alleged murder of Shaikh Mohasin Sadiq, a 24-year-old IT professional in Pune on Monday, a SMS boasting the crime as 'Pahili wicket padli' (first wicket fallen) was exchanged on mobiles of the killers, Hindustan Times reports.

The message was circulated among the members of Hindu Rashtra Sena, a right-wing group, accused of the murder.

Sorry Mr. Sarang I know you are already working in overdrive, but you can not sweep it under the rug.

PM Modi must condemn Sadique Shaikh’s murder — and repeal draconian Section 66A.
The brutal bludgeoning to death of Pune-based 28-year-old techie Mohsin Mohamed Sadique Shaikh — his alleged killers belonged to the extremist Hindu Rashtra Sena and were apparently incensed over social media messages they found objectionable — is shocking. But not surprising, perhaps. The climate of intolerance in which such hate crimes thrive — Shaikh was picked on simply because he looked Muslim — has been created ironically by the law itself, in the form of the draconian Section 66A of the Information Technology Act which in effect criminalizes free speech over the internet.

Previously, this section — which prescribes arrest and punishment for anyone deemed to use communication devices to send messages causing a gamut of possible impacts, from annoyance and inconvenience to intimidation and enmity — has been widely used by the political class for silencing free speech, thus becoming a tool of intimidation itself. On each occasion Section 66A's use met with vociferous protests pointing out both its absurdities — such as equating annoyance with criminal intimidation — and its gross overreach in a democracy where freedom of speech includes a right to offend.

Fast-track courts should be set up to try Shaikh's killers and exemplary punishment must be meted out to the guilty. Moreover, there are several reasons why Prime Minister Narendra Modi should take cognisance of this case. As part of his 'minimum government, maximum governance' programme, he wants to phase out arbitrary laws which harass citizens and interfere with everyday activities of people. Section 66A is a prime example of maximum government, as it institutionalizes a double standard whereby politicians are free to call each other the vilest of names but citizens must desist from causing 'annoyance' to anyone.

You are at it again, trying to muzzle. If that is what you think of democracy shame on you. There was no personal insult, and no one ever told me that one can not make personal remark. You either do not understand the rules of public forum or deliberately trying to change it to suit your goal.
My post#5 was an article from TOI. If they insulted you please take it up with them.

In the last 12 months six hindus were murdered and five injured in tamilnadu; three were massacred in Kerala. There is no account of wanton murders of Hindus in west Bengal. Media and sada log are insensitive or deliberately hiding the atrocities or make a passing reference. Till the media and sada log take up exposure of all such incidents, only their hypocracy prevails.
There are laws to punish the guilty, let them be applied uniformly.

Why the media and sada log get orgasmic selectively?

This post is for those who jump to hasty conclusions and want modi to join the fray and issue statements. Hope one jumping to hasty conclusion and berate will see light and quieten down.

Maharashtra govt (secular) has sent a report to the home ministry that it is a law and order problem and nothing communal about it. The central govt (communal) has not accepted the report as it contains no specific facts and is general in nature.

Today's pune paper has come out with some details.

1. Unrest was already on the streets following circulation of derogatory pictures of Shivaji and Bal Thackery.
2. On may 31st, a group of men pelted stones and vandalised two disputed structures of muslim seminaries. Came to light only after the seminary door was opened.
3. Distorted messages about the incident were circulated (muzzafar nagar mosque was shown as the damaged masque in pune in facebook)
4. Some hindus were attacked by muslims in hadapsar area.
5. The police arrested seven presumably for both incidents.
6. A 13 year old hindu girl was molested by two muslim youths on jun2 in hadapsar. Heightened tension with circulation of messages that hindu women are raped.
7. Police called a meeting of the mohalla and peace committee on 2 june; thousands of muslims gathered and the police had to disperse them anticipating a deterioration in the situation. The dispersing crowd hurled stones at the statue of maratha king shivaji
7. More tension with the circulation of messages that the statue is damaged. As tension spread, there were clashes in several areas of hadapsar. Police had information that communally sensitive messages were circulating.
8. Unfortunate avoidable attack on the techie.

The above list is from today's pune supplement of the indian express. Other papers have not carried this. There were four abnormal incidents prior to the death of techie, known only to locals and not to the world. That is fair reporting of the independent media, keen to suppress truth and facts but act holy.

Still not known who posted in facebook; as per social media tweets, after first posting, police intervened and deleted it, but the post was back again. Wise people will wait for the whole picture to emerge before blaming hindutva. The media is highly irresponsible and is as bad as the villains who circulate distorted messages.

Also who is responsible for law & order..It is the State Government which in this case is Congress in Maharashtra and not BJP

Something interesting that I read in social media!

In case Muslim dies, it is handiwork of a Hindu!

In case Hindu dies, it is the handiwork of a terrorist!

And terrorists have no religion!

This is the approach of our se(i)cular media!!

There is everybody else to blame, as I found you another person (may be the culprit), I can not be blamed. Is anybody ever guilty?
