The tenuous reality of Science

The belief in science and technology saw exponential growth in recent times and I have a feeling it has peaked. Nothing can sustain for long that is in the true sense not real. I have come to this conclusion based on my faith in advaita and my own experiences.

Scientific laws or at least the laws as uncovered by science so far are not the ultimate truth. The scientists have just scratched the surface and still have a long journey ahead. To make any reasonable progress they have to seriously review their notion of proof of truths.

The experimental proof or evidence at best should be secondary. If logic goes contrary to the experimental results, the latter has to be abandoned and not vice versa. But funnily the reverse is happening now. No number of experimental corroboration can replace sound logic. You can be right a trillion times consecutively but wrong the next trillion times and more.

I am convinced spiritual energy is there for sure and under the influence of sufficiently strong spiritual energy, all phsyical energy simply vanishes i.e, physical energy or reality is a relative reality secondary to spiritual reality as expounded by Sankara. I am saying this on my own first hand expereince.

Unless Science acknowledges the exisence of spiritual energy and try to get an unified picture, it is doomed to falter and become a quack study.

India can be in the forefront in shaping the future of Science with its stunningly accurate knowledge of reality but the big question is when will people really begin to realize that Science is woefully inadequate?

Science is always inadequate. The day we even think science is adequate, our development stops.

What is spiritual energy? If we can quantify any energy, if we can logically see the sequence of any cycle, then suh cycle, such energy would come under science. subsequently, we can study more about it.

So, what is this spiritual energy that can't be quantified?

Statement No.1. This statement can be made by a person only if he has known the ultimate truth. And if he knows the ultimate truth he should make others realise that truth.

Statement No.2. If the person who makes this statement knows that there is a large mass underneath the surface that has been scratched, he should tell us what is it like before speaking about the long journey that is required to be made.

Statement No.3. If it is proof of a truth why should it be reviewed? Is it because it is not the truth? If so what else is the truth?

Dear Shri Sravna, Shri Munsaamy,

In my view "science" suits the present stage of human development best. As time progresses and man develops his knowledge about this seeming universe spread before him, the methods of science will also undergo changes and may be a stage will be reached at some future point of time when the findings of science and the laws functioning as its basic pillars, would also have changed unrecognizably. (Remember, even the Indians believed in a flat earth with eight directions held up by eight elephants called the aṣṭa dig-gajas!)

Coming to Sravna's favourite topic of "spiritual energy" I think we are committing a mistake. As per Shankara's Advaita, the spirit or the parabrahman is complete in itself and even if it has all the energies, it is rather inconceivable that ordinary humans should be able to tap into that energy source or to put it to use as desired by them. On the contrary, it is more probable that this universe itself is a product of māyā and whatever we are "conditioned" to consider as real and existing is not, in reality, so. That is why Shankara alludes to the dream state and the rajju-sarpa phenomenon.

In the meanwhile, it is necessary to give more detailed picture of whatever it is that you call "spiritual energy" and the ways in which it manifests to our human senses.

The ultimate truth is the only truth, and the complete truth. There is nothing other than this truth. If ny definition you accept that science is not outside of that truth. Science is not ignorance. So Mr. Sravna, your gripe against science is illogical.

Dear Sravna,

I know you believe in Advaita..so going by that shouldn't Science itself be in Brahman?

Yes I do agree that what we humans know is still the tip of the iceberg but doesnt that rule also apply in our quest for divinity or spirituality as you would like to call it.

I would rather just call everything Knowledge and not really feel one type of knowledge is superior over the other. It just depends on the need of the moment and its practical application.

When we try to have a holistic approach to life and see everything as part and parcel of Brahman what is there to reject?

I quote Avvaiyar for this...What you have learned (be it Science or Spiritual) is a mere handful; What you haven't learned is the size of the world...We are still unqualified to comment on this..We act as imbeciles on this at least!

Dear Shri Vgane,

I understand fully what you say. Bur think about this Sir. Aren't there so many who show utter disrespect to God in the belief that Science will conquer everything? It is to those people really my post was directed definitely not to belittle the accomplishments of all the great minds.

I agree with it, and that is what I was trying to say in my post.

Dear Shri Sravna,

Agreed..Does Science have an answer to who created life..I don't think so...We have not conquered nature yet..Science is a tool for advancement of mankind...Science does not have answers to many of the mysteries in life...

Let us not be bothered about the 2% who are atheists and the 9% who are non religious in the globe! They blabber without understanding!

Dear Sravna,

It is not God that is "disrespected"..cos God is beyond Praise and Blame but it is a Believer that feels uneasy becos is his/her belief that is being "disrespected" and not accepted by those who do not subscribe to the same believes.

So you see its us humans that feels bad or good in response to any situation becos we feel that anything we believe in has to be the Gospel Truth..its our own attachment to any outcome that makes us feel bad or good.

That is why if something does not make us feel good just ignore it and move on..we are not here to prove anything we ourselves do not know to anyone who equally knows nothing.

Sometimes ignorance is totally bliss.

At times there is no harm singing this below..cos it makes everyone feel better.

Naan oru muttalunga romba Nalla padichavanga Naalu Peru Sonnanga

There is no conflict in pursuing a spritual mukti path and loukika world centred path, though the proportion may differ with different people. If spiritual path is vertical, then the other is horizontal spread, necessary to support the vertical ladder and to cushion the fall from high up. All branches of knowledge are important for the society and the aspirant and is accepted by our scriptures and sampradayams.
