'SagirthaamaNi' is the corrupted form of 'SahadharmiNi' meaning a man's lawful wife.

She is supposed to observe and follow the path of Dharma along with her husband.

She gets half the good merits (puNyam) for the good actions performed by her husband.

But if she commits sins, 100% of it will be transferred to her husband's account

since he failed to guide her in the righteous path of Dharma.

In olden time 1/6 th of whatever a man produced ( except his children of course)

went to the King's kazhana and food storage bins.

In other words 1/6 th was the tax due to the king and his government. Things do not rest there!

One sixth of the sins committed by the citizens went into King's personal account or paapam and

PuNyam. Scary! Isn't it? That is why in the olden days Kings were keen to make sure that they rule

righteously and their citizens remain dhaarmic in their behavior and all their dealings.
