I had imagined that beetroot is always purple in colour.

When I peeled the skin of the beetroot harvested from the organic home garden of my younger son and cut them into smaller cubes, I was stunned to see that they were all golden yellow in colour.

They taste the same but do not have the deep purple colour that puts off many people.

Later I looked up and found that there are at least five different types of beet root. How about a multi coloured beetroot salad???

Those who love beetroot halwa /cake /chocolates / toffees can make use of the paler colours for better looks of the food served!!
