On this occasion, I love to share the following few quotes:

“I am a Hindu hence I Love not only human beings, but all living beings” - Mahatma Gandhi

[TD="colspan: 2"]“Hinduism insists on the brotherhood of not only all mankind but of all that lives” - Mahatma Gandhi

Good post.
We owe a big gratitude to that great man,
No human being is without some failings. So may be Gandhiji too had some failings. But those personality flaws are minor compared to his qualities, and then again people who criticize him just need to see their true personality.
Most can not hold a candle to Gandhiji, but then they try to find fault with Gandhiji. There is no sense of Gratidude, or humbleness in presence of greatness.

True Sir. Thank you.

The tale of India's freedom movement is incomplete without remembering the immense contribution of Mahatma Gandhi. Born on October 2, 1869, Mohandas Karam Chand Gandhi or Mahatma Gandhi was unarguably the greatest man in the history of India. In 1894, Gandhi Ji founded Natal Indian Congress with the support of Indian people to fight for their legal rights. The Transvaal government launched a new act in the year 1906 for forcing registration of Indian people. Against the newly launched act of the government, Indian people gathered in Johannesburg on September 11 under the leadership of Gandhi Ji. In the meeting, he urged the people for peaceful protest and thousands of supporters accepted his principles of Satyagraha and Ahinsa, with full respect. Though the movement was a failure, Gandhi Ji emerged as a political leader of Indian community in South Africa. It was the beginning of the change that Gandhiji was about to bring. In 1915, Gandhi Ji returned back to India the reputation of a leading Indian nationalist, theorist and organizer. He joined Indian National Congress. His contribution in bringing social and cultural change in India is unforgettable. Gandhiji led the nation in the following historical movements:
Non Co-operation Movement (1922):It was the first of all non-violent protests in India. Non-cooperation movement officially started the Gandhian era in India.
Salt march or Civil Disobedience Movement (1930):
After the failure of Non-cooperative Movement, Gandhi Ji started another non-violence movement, namely, Civil Disobedience Movement, in the year 1930. The movement began on March 12, 1930, when Gandhi Ji left Sabarmati Ashram, Ahmedabad, along with some of his followers towards Dandi, a village on the west coast of India.
Quit India Movement (Bharat Chodo Andolan) or August Movement (1942):
Quit India Movement (Bharat Chodo Andolan) or August Movement was one of the most important movements that had been led by Gandhi Ji. On August 8, 1942.

Gandhi Ji always struggled for the nation and finally on August 15, 1947 his long journey came into an end, when British government made way for freedom of India.
Mohandas K. Gandhi, known to the world as The Mahatma, or the "Great Soul", brought a great gift to the modern world. That gift was the light of Non-Violence, of Service to the Community and of Social Justice. His life served as an example and this light became a torch which illuminated our world and which saved us from our own inhumanity to each other.

I know some of the members can not see greatness in others (except their own), and some despise him because they hate independence of India.
Let the rest of us celebrate the life of this great man.

prasad1, why do you always have to be a jerk? Am I interfering in any way with your celebration of the Mahatma? Why do you have to make these nasty comments? Celebrate all you like man, but do it without these crude and insolent comments directed at me? If you wish, challenge me with facts and rational arguments. Or, if you are serious about wanting to avoid me -- you keep saying that all the time -- then how about actually avoiding me? It can't be that difficult, can it? Don't be a <click here>.

p.s.
I don't hero worship the Mahatma, but only incorrigible jerks would equate that to despising

Dear Prasad,

Personally I do not consider M. K. Gandhi as a great person. I would have kept my opinion to myself had I not read your comments.

I do not really like to start a debate about M.K. Gandhi in this thread.

Do I see greatness in others? I possibly do. But I can assure you, I don't see any greatness in myself, I have many many messages to prove that in this forum.

Kindly don't lash out others when unprovoked, please. Thank you.

Cheers!
