TWO STATES-Attraction Of TB girls and punjabi boys

Not open for further replies.
I happen to go to watch the movie of above name based on bestseller of chetan bhagat

The movie deals with the subject of TB girl falling in love with a punjabi boy

this is becoming common place in delhi . these boys both handsome and macho looks are a fatal attraction for

TB girls
the movie more or less follows the novel and shows what all they have to do to get acceptance of both families . the cultural clash and
the
need to come to terms with a person from another state with different language ,food habits

the chemistry of lead actors arjun kapoor ,alia bhat and acting of character artists revathy and amritha singh make it very nice, thought provoking and entertaining experience . TBs can spend a free after noon and enjoy the movie .as some dialogs are in tamil and show the likes and prejudices of tamilbrahmins . also one may get to know how punjabis view south indians.

I thought I saw Revathi's name in the story write up...so no way I will watch the movie..I cant stand Revathi at all.

That way I am fussy..I need to like every actor/actress in the movie to watch it.

Anyway there is no SRK so I might not be too interested to watch!LOL

yes yes..I have watched that some 5 times!..I love Romantic Comedies.

You see if story is about a TB family..its will be a bit too slow moving..it will be all about culture, carnatic music etc..there wont be much scope for hot masala type of comedy with item numbers etc.

With Non Brahmin Tamil family especially the goon types..we will have some Don with his lungi clad henchman and that can make the movie funny and more scope for comedy and item numbers. There can also be a Thangabali types who will fight with the hero.

But in TB family who will be Thangabali to fight a hero?? Most TB guys are portrayed as timid types who dare not profess their love! Anniyan was the only TB that dared to fight!

So you see I think only a TB can enjoy TB style movies!

I cant..I need the masala, item numbers and the cool Don with his funny and dumb lungi clad henchmen!

In the film two states,There is a scene where the father of the girl begs the punjabi boy with hands folded to leave his daughter as they are respectable people and his name in his community will be damaged . very humorous really .
the girls mother tells the girl ' unakkkaha evaalai ivvalavu sahichen, edukkumel mudiyadhu' referring to the punjabi family.
The film is semi auto biographical .see it you might like it . very realistic . many TB families face these issues these days.

My neighbour TB girl married a punjabi boy her school mate . The traditional parents , tried locking her up .even assaulted her but she stuck to her guns. the parents ultimately were forced to accede to her .at the first oppurtunity , they scooted off to US swearing not to return to India again.

Many of these TB girls are smart ,They are able to tame these punjabi bullies into soft domestic puppies and incorporate them into their traditional families. the other day one such unfortunate punjabi soul contacted me for an alliance for his daughter [ mother of girl TB ]. He wanted a TB brahmin alliance for his daughter and put me on to his mother in law talking in flawless tamil and boasting about his caring punjabi son inlaw staying with them and looking after them.conveniently , they had sent off the girl to be married to chennai for studies. also they were trying to see that the next generation chooses only TBs. whether they can get their way is another matter

So far this thread seems to have dialogue only between one Punjabi and one Tamilian (guess who is who).

BTW, there have been many other movies on the 2 states idea. Another one: Vicky Donor. But as a rule in Bollywood, the hero is always Punjabi, nobody else is allowed to carry away their women.

Vicky donor is more on sperm donation . but it depicted the punjabi life style of middle class . I likes Annu kapoor playing the doctor hunting for donors and trapping the punjabi hero

Dear Krish ji,

Why do you feel Punjabi guys are bullies..as far as I know most of them treat girls like in this song..they are romantic heros...even Jaats are thought to be rough and tough but when a Jaat is in love...they are chocolate heroes.

But both Punjus Jaats are brave and know when to fight.

Interestingly I think both of you are eligible to switch roles at will between Punjabi and Tamilian.

Krishji, did you see the scene in Vicky Donor where a Sardar is teaching the Bengalis how to dance Bhangra?

BTW what would a Rasagolla which is spongy, square in shape and yellow in color be called?

Any idea?

One of my friends saw this movie and he told me that here the TB female character is shown eating chicken and ordering beer!

The last time I remember there was a lot of dissatisfaction when Kamal Hassan showed a supposedly TB female tasting chicken in his movie Vishwaroopam..how come for this movie 2 States no one is getting upset?

renukaji
Pl visit any iim campus any time if you know anyone

They have open hostels with free access for boy and girl students to each others rooms .a few date also.these are made outcastes by others and are left alone and not included in larger groups

The food preferences are not based on where they are from You can see some TBs taking non veg dishes . Also It is not uncommon for the girls to go to town together with boys either singly or together and hit off food with beer .they have pretty good comaraderie between sexes .

during my sons marriage [he is an alumni of IIM ] both boys and girls landed up about 8to 10 numbers and all had whale of a time with dancing bhangra during mapillai welcome and the evening before that had a send off party for bachelor getting married separately in one of the larger rooms in a nearby hotel with drinks and dinner both veg and non veg. items. some were south indian brahmin girls . my son felt he had a very considerate father who had arranged to take good care of his class mates.

there are some explicit scenes depicting physical intimacy between the girl and boy before marriage in the film . normally they go upto hand holding and perhaps kissing and nothing more .. these intimacy scenes are not normal and could be called authors fantasy .

after getting placed some marry their class mates from other communities in preferance to their own caste boys from outside .they feel more comfortable with each other
