Unable to correct my Income Tax Return

I had submitted my Income Tax return on line. I wanted to correct the return. But when i went to the rectification page the assessment year 2018-19 is not there in the dropdown menu.

Has anyone faced this problem? How do i overcome this?

I think you can do that after you get an intimation u/s 143(1) from IT. If it is mismatch (26AS) etc could be rectified Omission / Commission requires revised filling.

The above advice applies only if you have verified the return and it was also processed by the IT authorities. If you have not verified the return, you can just ignore the earlier return filed.

If the return is verified, but not yet processed, you can file a revised return, using the same form. There is an option where you have to select from whether it is original return or revised return.

AY 2018-2019 will not appear in the dropdown menu of the rectification page, because only the returns processed by IT Dept will appear here.

When it is processed you will get SMS confirmation - followed by 143(1) intimation in your email Your password to open the file - PAN all in lower font followed by date of birth. and follow it up if any action required.

This problem has been resolved in the CA forum

[FONT=&quot]You have to revise the return u/s. 139(5). You cannot rectify it till any assessment.

i.e. upload revised return (.XML file) with required changes.

[/FONT][FONT=&quot]The procedure is just same as filling original return..... Just the change is it is filled u/s. 139(5) and not u/s. 139(1) [/FONT]
