[h=1]Six men uproot ATM machine holding Rs 8 lakh take it away[/h] [h=2]CCTV footage show the men using a gas cutter to slice off the base of the machine. After plucking out the wires from the machine, they dragged the machine out and loaded it into the tempo and left[/h]

Thieves, during the wee hours on Sunday, fled with an unguarded State Bank of India ATM installed at Bhajanpura area of Northeast Delhi, police said.

According to the police, the theft has been caught on camera with five-six unidentified persons removing the screws to which the ATM was fixed on the floor. Officials said the thieves had brought an tempo truck with them to carry away the machine.

Although the CCTV camera in the ATM and its footage was gone with the machine, the entire act was caught on a camera installed outside a nearby jewellery shop. The incident took place at Subhash Market in Bhajanpura at the SBI ATM when no guard was present at it.

However, the visual from the CCTV camera was grainy and the police have sent the footage to the forensic laboratory for cleaning the image. According to the footage, the theft took place at around 2.30 am.
Bank officials said the ATM had around Rs 7.5 lakh cash in it and there was no security guard deployed at the machine counter.

The theft was first noticed by Hari Ram Sharma, owner of the building where the ATM was installed at Gangotri Vihar in Bhajanpura.

Sources said investigation revealed that the tempo truck had “Malik Sahab” written on it and the police were tracing any such three-wheeler in the locality. A case of theft had been registered at the Bhajanpura police station.

Joint CP(Eastern) Sanjay Beniwal and DCP(North East) V V Chaudhary were not available for comment.
