Nehru was an mitigated disaster for India poilitcally. His blunders are galore, forcing you think whether he was an Indian at all.

He killed the offer of UNSC seat way back in 1955.

"(India was offered a permanent seat on the council 55 years ago, in 1955. But that offer, made by the U.S. and the Soviet Union, was declined by India's first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. Nerhu said the seat should be given to China instead.)"

Greetings, Sir. Personally I would not care too much about UNSC seat; certainly not in 1955. I could be wrong though. However, Nehru was not the smartest of the leaders. It was not a very good idea to decline US relationship when it was offered in those years. Nehru set India on course towards a 'banana republic' status. Y2K bug was the boon for India.

Cheers!

It is interesting that WaPo article gives the above statement within brackets without any supporting evidence. Much of the talk that Eisenhower offered UNSC permanent seat to Nehru remains web chatter and nothing more.

Cheers!

Nehru also cost Tibet & Aksai Chin. That was his biggest blunder to trust Dragon.
He was the weakest PM ever.
Why is there is so fuss about UNSC I don't understand. If we are eligible it will come to us automatically. Why we are begging?
