In a stunning revelation before officials at the Chief Minister's Janata Darshan Wednesday, a 25-year-old woman alleged that her father and younger brother had been sexually abusing her for the last nine years.

The woman was sent for a medical examination. The woman told the police her mother was aware of her ordeal and told her not to complain as it would damage the family's reputation. The woman also said she had undergone several abortions. The mother was also arrested.

Shiva Shukla, Station Officer of the Mahila Police Station, said the woman told them that she has been sexually abused since the age of 16. Her father first sexually exploited her under the influence of alcohol. A few years later, her younger brother also started sexually abusing her.

Shukla said the woman told the police that she could not gather courage to approach the police because her father and brother used to beat her whenever she complained.

Is this a new phenomenon or has not been exposed before?

This is nothing new Prasad Sir!

Even during my school days, my dad, a medical practitioner, had seen such stray incidents

and the girls came for treatment after the abuse! There was no media coverage though!!

In fact there are two different swear words to denote the guys who molest their own mother and sister, in 'KOvai Tamil' !

Dear Prasad Ji,

When I was in India I remember a friend of mine telling me about her maid.

Her maid was sexually abused by her father(maid's father) and even got pregnant.

The mother knew about it all the while and never bothered..in fact the maid said that when her father came home drunk and called out for the daughter for sex..and when she refused..the mother herself would beat the girl and make her have sex with the father.

When she got pregnant than both parents found a mappillai and got her married and that guy has no idea that the son born is not his.

So such cases I feel are not new..just that there is media coverage now.

Prasad Ji

Perfect topic for a self-proclaimed agnostic septuagenarian to study the girl's
horoscope and pronounce the verdict of 'Karma' !

Can do with some humor - after all, "Laughter is the Best Medicine".

Tmt RR's post # 2 prompts one to deduce:

" Confide in your Doctor, but make sure his daughter is not within audible range ".

Dear A M Sir,

My mom had instructed us to keep a safe distance even from a known guy, what ever his age be!

'endhap puththula endhap pAmbu irukkumO!' :fear:

Now we understand why she made us so cautious. :thumb:

Your post # 9

No doubt in the fact that it was very 'wise' counsel.

I was just wondering how 'wise' it was to have eavesdropped on a Doc Dad and making a
note of all the confidential [ and sometimes embarrassing ] matters conveyed to him his patients !

I actually meant to say something like : " Love Thy Neighbor, Just Don't Get Caught " !.

Yay Yem

You need to be careful, In north India they think the south Indian practice of marrying "mama" is an incest.

I think P J Sir posted a video that showed a gentleman teaching young kids to know how to differentiate between good and bad touch!

It is very essential for the girls to know such things because their innocence might be exploited by crooks!
