Let me post this question through an example: (have assumed the nazhigai of the nakshatram to last for 24 hours i.e., 60 nazhigai's)
1. Assume that Ekadasi thithi starts sometime after suryodayam (say 10 a.m.) on a monday and ends shortly after suryodayam on the next day (say 10 a.m.) tuesday.
So when should the Upavasam be observed - from mid monday to mid tuesday or on tuesday since the day has started on Ekadasi?
2. This may get more complicated if the nazhigai combination is such that Ekadasi starts on monday after suryodayam and dwadasi ends before suryodayam on wednesday!!! (if at all it is possible).
