Ustad Abdul Karim Khan recorded two Kannada songs at the request of the Maharaja of Mysore Krishnarajendra Wodeyar -- in whose court Khansahib was a court musician. The Maharaja wanted Khansahib to record a few songs in South Indian languages because he thought it will widen Abdul Karim Khan's popularity in the region. Khansahib recorded two songs - 'Inthanera Chinna' in Raga Saveri , and the other one is Thyagaraja's 'Ramani Saman Ineveru' in Raga Kharaharpriya (Kafi) for a 78 rpm disc with Odeon Company .It is said that Khansahib learned Telugu krithis from Veena Dhanammal. The recordings were done in 1935, but the records were released in 1938 after Khansahib's death. Michael Kinnear has written in his book that Khansahib was deeply annoyed with Odeon for the delay.
