When an Atman merges with GOD( unless most sinners who to go Indiraloga for some times, we don't know they bribe even GOD), death does not affect GOD. The only reason is to show continuously for one year or depending on the relationship, we avoid enjoying daily life. Even in a house with death, rest of the people do not stop eating for that day. So, say about 15 days mourning is OK and then go to temple. Don't be afraid, with so many bogus Bhaktas, GOD will not be bothered by a really mourning person coming to silently, without paying any psychiatrist fee, to cry.

So, all these rules for just Upathesam only. No one avoid going to temple when a child is born, even it is going to be an Asura, so at least some one will ask, Mama/Mami mele poyidaaraame!e?. Pavam? For GOD or for the person?

This is not a cynical view, rather a practical one. I mourn for every one for 15 days only and pray both in the morning and evening offering 10 handful of water. I have no guilt feeling and no dead one had ever come in my dream and said, NI enn Brahmanan, Kovilukku pore?
