Wanted to reply to this thread about RIP: https://www.tamilbrahmins.com/threads/rest-in-peace-what-does-it-mean.25391 but it is disabled so leaving a comment here. Shankanad lifted and copied blog post from here: Laying RIP to rest - in peace! written in 2014 almost a year before the Shankanaad post. I wanted to add to it.
Since then because it was widely publicized a lot of good tings have happened.Even Modiji has stoped using RIP. Someone had to do it but this is only a beginning. A simple solution is to always stick to Indian languages. Even Indian languages are corrupted by translation. Chirashanti for atma is also a translation of eternal peace to soul. To us Atma is always at peace/ananda. Sadgati is the right word. May he attain a good state = avarige/Avarkaḷukku sadgati in Kannada/Tamil. So lets use Indian words for everything and not use translations. Lets ask learned people what is the right work when in doubt. Thank you for letting me in.
Please post words in English we use that does not comply with our tradition and what Indian word we can use instead. Thank you.
