Moral of the calculation:

Never try to add and balance the money spent and money left!! :decision:

Raji Ram..

Good Home work.. ammam, you are only a music teacher.. when did you learn Maths?

Surely Ram Sir helped you!!!

Ram does not even see the P C screen when I work, more so if it is our forum page!

Seems you have not read my introduction message posted when I joined here.

FYI, I am copy pasting it:

Hope you know what is meant by '
:thumb:

Raji Madam

Frankly i did not read your introductory message!!

great..you should have waited for renukaji's reply.

I wonder how Dr. renukaji would have figured it out : usually Docs are very poor mathematicians!!

Paddu Sir

A question is really no answer to an initial question - that is just dodging the issue and avoiding giving
a straight answer. 'Paavam Ramji' - leave him out of this - he's probably spent a whole life time
trying to add things up and make sense of it all !

I hope Renu doesn't retort with a complaint of a headache, when her patient comes to her
complaining of an ache in the stomach !

Yay Yem

Dear A M Sir,

Did you not read the moral of the calculation (rather wrong calculation)?

I did not ask any question. I gave two examples to show how silly it is to add the money spent and money left

at different points of time and try to balance them! :der:

Paddu Sir

Here's a Re 1.00 for you - you might not have seen one for some time now, why most
Indians residing in India too might not have seen a Re 1.00 note - could make you feel
a bit nostalgic .

I am sure you would be able to find cleaner / clearer / less-soiled notes on the internet - but
I stubbornly held on to some 'home currency' wherever I traveled - this is one of them.

Looking back - how far this ONE RUPEE could take us those days - ever so many things we could have
done with ONE RUPEE - it was so precious - just flaunting it among friends was a big thrill.

Dedicated to Paddu Sir:

Re Side 1.webp Re Side 2.webp

Many people are sure to feel nostalgic - not currently issued by RBI

Yay Yem

In bank pass book too, opening balance or carried over balance is at the top and credit/debit is added/subtracted to get current balance. What is the difference? The paradox or mistake is not yet explained in mathematical terms.

There are other paradoxes - to get perpetual motion with two magnets arranged as horizontal "T', kept on a disc floating on water; magnetic moments '2M/d^3' and 'M/d^3' do not cancel out; and the disc rotates continuously because of the moment 'M/d^3'. It took many days for me to work this out; now I have forgotten.

Suppose a = 20; b = 15; c = 9; d = 6

First we take a from Rs 50 and hence left with 50 - a;

Then we take b from what is left; hence 50 - a - b;

Then we take c from what is left; hence 50 - a - b - c;

Then we take d from what is left; hence 50 - a - b - c - d.

If you take any number and add with what is above that number in the vertical column

and add with the number against that number in horizontal line, the result should be 50.

Expense .................. Balance

a ....................... 50 - a
(for this line a + 50 - a = 50)

b ....................... 50 - a - b (for this line a + b + 50 - a - b = 50)

c ....................... 50 - a - b - c
(for this line a + b + c + 50 - a - b - c = 50)

d ....................... 50 - a - b - c - d
(for this line a + b + c + d + 50 - a - b -c - d= 50)

The columns should not be added. :nono:

P.S: In this case, only if a = 20; b = 15; c = 10 and d = 5 , both columns will be = 50!!
