Whether Karma theory Applicable to Avatars too ?
There are various reasons for the advent of the Divine in human form. For the human being, his past karma is the cause of birth. The circumstances of each one's birth depend on his past actions
.
For Divine incarnations karma is not the cause. what karma God should have
performed to be born as a human being :for God to take
birth as a human being, there have to be good and bad
Circumstances.
There is an important distinction that is to be
noted here. If man has done good or bad, the consequences will
apply only to him. The aspect of Avathar is not exactly like
that. The bad work done by bad people and the good work
done by good people are both causes for an Avathar, God
coming in the human form.
Bhagavadh Geetha, which declare "Yadaa yadaa hi dharmasya glaanir bhavathi,
Bhaaratha, Abhyuththaanam adharmasya tadh aathmaanam srujaamyaham," and adding
"Parithraanaaya saadhuunaam, vinaasaayacha dhushkrutaam, dharma samsthaapanaarthaaya
sambhavaami yuge yuge." "Whenever dharma declines, I restore it and put down the forces
which cause the decline, by assuming a form" and "I am born again and again in every crisis in order to protect the good, punish the wicked and restore dharma."
This will become very evident to us in the story of Narasimha Avatar.
The good karma of Prahlada and the bad karma of Hiranya Kashyapa are both
responsible for Narayana’s appearing in the form of
Narasimha.
In the same manner, for every Avathar, there is
some reason. Bhagavan takes a human form for the karma done
by others. He takes such a form out of His own free will.
