My return did not happen by accident or by an intense desire.
Offhand, there were folks here, who have asked me to come, and there was one request I could not refuse. But that is my 'thing' and not the fault of the requester.
I have always viewed this forum as a replacement for the thinnai of our gramams - ready reference for any question of ecclesiastical nature. But more a facilitator to spend an evening after dinner, accompanied by vethla paakku and tobacco (or something of a stronger nature to straighten out the constitution).
I have come to realize that the reading public is just those who contribute. For want of proof, that there are 'millions ou there' who keep awake, read what we write, and squirm and tear their hair, and commit acts of a nature, instigated by the posts here. If something like that ever happens, hopefully, they would be good enough, to record it here
I have had fun, and I have also developed a love of writing. which i did not know i had. Also, some friends, though consistent with my philosophy, that cyber friends remains such, I studiously avoid visiting or meeting them, even when I am in their city. Something different from the experience of that good lady Raji (I do envy that !!)
Maybe it is the desire to have peace and non interference, that regular invites to come back - have eluded the likes of Nara, Happy Hindu and such like - giants of the past, now no more but a ghost of whisper, who have moved on to better nurturers of life.
Also missing was the gentle chide of certain females, CoolPerson comes to my mind, who could poke at some of our inconsistencies, and also some of our intolerances.
Many a times, I have found, there is the presence of a strong anchor of 'what I call' status quo re social attitudes - Suraju thrusts his name to the forefront. I have found him so erudite, and so smart, that nothing of what I could say, he cannot pke a hole. My buckets of 'knowledge' can hold no water, thanks to Raju's sharp and accurately aimed bullets So be it, but atleast it makes this forum exciting, for nothing can kill it like dullness.
Maybe some are happy that Nara or Happy Hindu are not here anymore. The other extreme, there was Jamadagneya, who even cast aspiration of the lives of some folks here. I am happy that he is absent. So I guess, the equation, may be even, though Nara/HH, I think, are of a gentler, harmless yet knowledge possessors of a kind, that Jama was never was.
KRS, i find him missing. Maybe he is keeping his watchful paternal eyes here. Though I would have imagined him to poke in with his erudite comments. Hope he too has not gone awol.
On the whole, I think, the regulars, can do 'something' to make this a wee bit more exciting. If you ask me 'what?', my answer is 'I dont know'. For that is the Billion Dolla Challenge.
Belated Greetings and Best Wishes...
