I have a nagging doubt....I was wondering..that there are religions in this world that pray with the formless concept in their minds and no image worship at all.
Their followers too are successful in carrying out such method of prayers.
Islam and Sikhism do not have the concept of Idol worship and even some Non Catholic Christians too have sans image worship.

Now lets compare and contrast..take the average Hindu and the average non Hindu....just say the Hindu is Mr A and the Non Hindu is Mr B.

Both Mr A and Mr B are nice persons and peace loving and go about their lives are usual and are of the same education background and live in the same area too.

Now how come the Non Hindu can manage life without worshiping an image and still focus his mind on being good but the Hindu needs the image worship?

From what I read recently that in Krita Yuga external worship was not even present..so if people could manage then why we Hindus totally cant manage now?

Even religious text says that we need to go thru all stages of worship..starting from rituals to jnaana and then to the formless.

So why is it people of other religions can straightaway jump to the concept of the formless and still do well but we Hindus always hang on to polytheism image worship?

I am not finding fault with idol worship but just wondering why we Hindus could not establish any uniform concept of worship like some other religions establisher who came...who saw and conquered the minds of many to be sans image worship.

Thinking of 'formless' is not possible therefore praying to formless is just an idea ..

Hinduism being an umbrella name supports everything. And it is not polytheistic, or montheistic or pantheistic. In fact one has to come up with a new ism but it can fit into any of the existing isms.

So anyway one can relate to their Ishta Devatha is fine within Hindu beliefs.

We dont need to go through many stages of worship - there is no such requirement.

You can have it your way - like the Burger King ad says

Even the Abrahamic religions have this image of the "bearded old man in the sky". Look at the paintings of Michaelangelo.
